]]> 31 October Bank Holiday News: Banks across the country will remain closed on October 31 on the occasion of Diwali 2024. There is a public holiday in banks on this day. Diwali is one of the most important holidays in India and among the Hindu population.

Diwali symbolizes great cultural, spiritual and economic value and is celebrated with grandeur across the country.

Many states including Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry, Telangana and Tamil Nadu will observe bank holidays on Diwali day on October 31. At the same time, many other states including Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal will also celebrate Diwali on the same day (October 31), while there will be some additional regional holidays on November 1 (Friday).

Banks in India are going to remain closed for 15 days in October due to national and regional holidays. Now the month is about to end, but bank customers should plan their bank visits keeping in mind the closure, this will not waste your time.

October 1: Holiday due to assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

02 October: Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti/Mahalaya Amavasya 03 October: Sharadiya Navratri and Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti.

10 October: Maha Saptami/Durga Puja/Dussehra .
11 October: Dussehra (Mahastami/Mahanavami)/Ayudha Puja/Durga Puja (Dasain)/Durga Ashtami
12 October: Dussehra/Dussehra (Mahanavami/Vijayadashami)/Durga Puja (Dasain) and second Saturday.
13 October: Weekly Holiday (Sunday).
14 October: Durga Puja (Dasain) and Dussehra in Gangtok.
16 October: Laxmi Puja (Agartala, Kolkata).
17 October: Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti/Kati Bihu
20 October: Sunday 26 October: Merger Day (Jammu & Kashmir) and fourth Saturday.
27 October: Weekly Holiday (Sunday).
October 31: Diwali (Deepawali)/Kali Puja/Birthday of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel/Narak Chaturdashi

In addition, apart from holidays, banks are also closed on Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) usually publishes a list of bank holidays that takes into account general weekend closures, national holidays, regional celebrations and festivals.
