The goal is to get the PVC card, which has superior durability, security features (like holograms and ghost images), and the highest acceptance rate for KYC (Know Your Customer) processes, especially when applying for financial products like personal loans.

Phase 1: Prerequisites (The Must-Haves)

Before you even log into the portal, ensure these four things are correct.

1. Valid Aadhaar Number (12 digits) or Enrolment ID.

2. Registered Mobile Number with UIDAI for OTP verification.

3. Correct Address in UIDAI records (Delivery only goes to this registered address).

4. Payment Method (Debit/Credit Card, UPI, or Net Banking) for the fee.

Phase 2: The Online Ordering Process

The only place to do this is the official portal. Never share your Aadhaar details on unofficial websites.

1. Go to the Source: Visit the official UIDAI portal (uidai.gov.in).

2. Select Service: Find and select ‘Order Aadhaar PVC Card’ under the My Aadhaar section.

3. Authentication: Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the Captcha code.

4. Verify: A one-time password (OTP) is sent to your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP to verify.

5. Review: Carefully check the displayed details—your name, photo, date of birth, and address.

6. Pay: Pay the non-refundable fee of ₹50 using your preferred online payment method.

7. Save: Save the Service Request Number (SRN) that is generated. You need this for tracking, or nothing.

Phase 3: Delivery and Troubleshooting

Once the order is placed, you enter the waiting period. The whole process is estimated to take 10 to 20 working days.

Common Issues and Fixes

• Mobile Not Registered: You cannot proceed online. Visit your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra with identity proof to update your mobile number first.

• Address is Wrong/Old: The card will only deliver to the recorded address. You must update your address at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra, wait about 7 days for the system to process the update, and then order the card.

• Card Not Received: If the 20-day mark passes, check the tracking status using your SRN. If it shows as “returned” due to address issues, you must re-order. You can also contact the UIDAI helpline at 1947.

The official PVC card speeds up verification by 60-70% for banks and NBFCs, making it crucial for financial readiness.
