1. Updating Your Name on Aadhaar Card

UIDAI recently updated its fee structure (effective January 2026). You can update your name online through the myAadhaar portal using a Marriage Certificate or Gazetted notification as proof.

  • Step 1: Visit the official myAadhaar portal.

  • Step 2: Login with your Aadhaar Number and OTP sent to your registered mobile.

  • Step 4: Select ‘Name’ from the list of fields to update.

  • Step 5: Upload a scanned copy of your Marriage Certificate (issued by the Registrar of Marriages).

  • Step 6: Pay the non-refundable fee of ₹75 (Revised rate for demographic updates in 2026).

  • Step 7: Note down your SRN (Service Request Number) to track the status.

2. Updating Your Name on PAN Card

Once your Aadhaar is updated, it becomes much easier to update your PAN, as you can use Aadhaar-based e-KYC for a paperless experience.

  • Step 1: Visit the Protean (formerly NSDL) or UTIITSL PAN portal.

  • Step 2: Select “Changes or Correction in existing PAN Data” under Application Type.

  • Step 3: Fill in your current PAN number and your New Name (with the updated surname).

  • Step 4: In the “Documents” section, select Aadhaar as proof for identity, address, and DOB.

  • Step 5: Payment:

    • ₹107 for a physical PAN card (delivered to your home).

    • ₹72 if you only require an e-PAN (sent to your email).
