It was told by a railway official that the Railway Board took this decision because the bedroll charge is already included in the fare charged from RAC passengers for traveling in AC class. In this regard, a letter has been written to the General Managers of all the Zonal Railways on behalf of Railway Board Principal Executive Director Shailendra Singh. In this, orders have been given to ensure arrangements for providing linen and a bedroll kit to RAC passengers. After this decision of Railways, RAC passengers will get a lot of convenience.

Full charge was taken from RAC passengers also

According to Railway Board, the bedroll kit is as per the fare system applicable for RAC passengers in AC class (except AC chair car). The purpose of this move is to treat RAC passengers at par with other passengers getting confirmed seats. With this they will also be able to travel comfortably. Generally, chances of confirmation of RAC ticket are less in long distance trains. The chances of getting RAC ticket confirmation are higher in short distance trains.

RAC simply means ‘Reservation Against Cancellation’ (RAC). This is a kind of ticket, it is issued when all the berths in the train are booked.
