There is a great news for liquor lovers. Chandrababu Naidu government of Andhra Pradesh has given a big gift to liquor lovers. The government has decided to cut the prices of liquor, due to which liquor will now be available at cheaper rates.

Let us tell you that the government’s one nation-one tax policy is not applicable on liquor. This is the reason why the taxes imposed on liquor are not the same across the country.

Key points of the decision:

Reduction in liquor prices: Reduction in liquor prices has been announced, due to which people will now be able to buy liquor of different brands at lower prices.

Government’s objective: The main objective of this decision is to control the sale of illegal liquor and increase the state’s revenue.

Social perspective: The government believes that low prices will curb illegal smuggling of liquor and people will buy liquor only from government-controlled shops.

Let us tell you that the new liquor policy of the state was approved in the state cabinet meeting held in Amaravati under the chairmanship of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Under this new policy, the prices of liquor have been reduced drastically, so that now people will be able to buy any brand of liquor for just Rs 99. This rule will come into effect from October 1, 2024.

Key points of the new liquor policy:

Price cut: 180 ml liquor of all brands will now be available for just Rs 99.

Licensing Process:

Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee of Rs 2 lakh is charged for obtaining the license.

License fee : Four slabs have been fixed for the license, ranging from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 85 lakh.

Premium Shops: 15 premium liquor shops will be opened in the state, which will be licensed for 5 years.

What is the new policy

– Liquor shops: Under the new policy, liquor shops will now be in the hands of private vendors. This change will help make sales more competitive.
– Price reduction: According to reports, the availability of affordable liquor will be ensured under the new policy. Some brands will be available at a price of Rs 99 or less.
– Opening hours: The opening hours of liquor shops will be increased by three hours, giving people an opportunity to make more convenient purchases.
– Increase in revenue: The new excise policy is likely to increase revenue by more than Rs 2,000 crore.

A committee of ministers was formed for this policy, which studied the liquor policies of other states, including Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The committee members criticized the policies of the previous government, accusing it of promoting the illegal liquor business. Minister Kollu Ravindra said that the previous government cheated the public and misused government employees for the illegal liquor business. Pension Scheme: While government employees in different states across the country are demanding to restore the old pension scheme (OPS), the Andhra Pradesh government has taken a heart-warming decision.

Yes, in the Andhra Pradesh cabinet meeting, it was agreed to increase the pension amount by 10 percent. Approval has been given by the cabinet to increase the existing social pension in the state from Rs 2,500 to Rs 2,750 per month. About 65 lakh pensioners of the state will get the benefit of this.

There will be an additional burden of Rs 130.44 crore.

In fact, there are currently 62 lakh pensioners in the state and 2.43 lakh will be added to this government scheme this month. New pensioners and old pensioners will be given enhanced pension from January 1, 2023. In the official release issued by the government, it was told that due to this change in pension, the government will have an additional burden of Rs 130.44 crore every month.

Apart from this, the cabinet also approved

the Andhra Pradesh Pumped Storage Electricity Promotion Policy-2022 for promoting ‘pumped storage’ and hydropower projects for the use of non-conventional sources of energy. According to the statement, the cabinet also approved the proposals of JSW Steel Ltd. for setting up an integrated steel plant in YSR district and Adani Green Energy Ltd. for setting up a total of 1,600 MW of pumped hydro storage projects in the state.
