How to Apply Online for Passport:

• Visit the Passport Seva online portal portalindia.gov.in.
• Click on the “Register Now” option on the home screen to register for the portal.
• After registration, use the registered login ID to access the Passport Seva Online Portal.
• To apply for a new passport or to re-issue an existing passport, click on the “Apply” button now.
• Complete the form by entering all the required information and submit.
• Click on View Saved/Submitted Applications option.
• To pay the minimum fee for the service, click on the tab “Pay and Schedule Appointment” Note: All PSKs/POPSKs/POs have made online payment mandatory for scheduling appointments. The cost of regular application is Rs 1,500, while the cost of Tatkal passport is Rs 2,000.
• To print your transaction receipt after paying the cost by net banking or any other available method, click on the link “Print Application Receipt”.
• After submitting your application, you will also receive an SMS with the appointment information. The Passport Office will require this message as proof.
• Carry all the original documents submitted along with your application to the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) / Regional Passport Office (RPO) on the designated day. Let us tell you that if you go to get the passport made by the normal process, then it may take 15 to 20 days.

Now after 28 September 2022 all online Post Offices in India will be able to apply for PCC services at Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs). This service will be available across India. The Ministry of External Affairs made a statement, in which it was said that the Ministry is working to simplify passport related services and make the process better for the citizens. There was a huge increase in the demand for Police Clearance Certificate (PCC). In view of this, now the facility of applying for PCC services is being provided in all online Post Office Passport Seva Kendras in India.

What is meant by Police Clearance Certificate?

This certificate is issued by the police. This certificate is required if people take a visa for residential status, job or long term. At the same time, for information, let us tell you that PCC is not required to go abroad on tourist visa.

According to the ministry, after this decision, not only those going for employment abroad will be benefitted but the demand of other PCC needs will be met. Like in the case of education and in the case of visas for a long time.
