The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has announced that if the government does not pay the dues of private hospitals by August 7, then the treatment of Ayushman card holders will be stopped in private hospitals after this date.

What is the reason

Let us tell you that Ayushman Bharat Yojana has proved to be a boon for millions of poor and needy people in Haryana. Under this scheme, cardholders get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh in private and government hospitals. But now clouds of crisis are looming over this scheme.

The Haryana unit of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has warned that if the government does not complete the outstanding payment of Rs 500 crore of private hospitals by August 7, they will stop providing services under this scheme. IMA Haryana Secretary Dr. Kuldeep Mangala says that some payments were released after our meeting with the government in January but nothing has come since March. Rs 500 crore is still pending, how can the hospital continue to work without payment.

Patients may face increased problems

About 650 private hospitals in Haryana are included in the panel under this scheme, which provide health services to more than 5 lakh Ayushman card holders of the state. But due to the problem of outstanding payments, hospitals are now withdrawing from this scheme. This decision may cause trouble to lakhs of poor patients. Especially those patients who have to get treatment for serious diseases like cancer, heart disease, and kidney related problems in private hospitals.

IMA’s demand

IMA has also demanded that the government should increase the annual budget of Ayushman Yojana from 800 crores to 2000 crores, so that such problems can be avoided in future. Meanwhile, Haryana Health Minister Arti Rao has intervened in this matter and assured that the government will soon pay the dues.

What will be available under Ayushman Yojana?

Who will get the benefit?

Talking about the criteria of Ayushman Yojana, all other senior citizens aged 70 years and above will be given a cover of up to Rs 10 lakh per year on family basis. On the other hand, if they are already covered by any scheme, then also they will be given a cover of Rs 5 lakh under this scheme. Apart from this, even if you are taking advantage of health insurance or private health insurance, you can still avail the benefit of Rs 5 lakh annually under the new card of Ayushman Yojana.

How to apply under Ayushman Bharat Yojana? 

• First of all go to the official website https://abdm.gov.in/. 
• Now the eligible person will have to get his Aadhar card or ration card verified at the PMJAY kiosk. 
• After this, the family certificate will have to be presented and complete details will have to be filled.  
• Now you can print your e-card with AB-PMJAY ID. 

How many members of a family can get a card?

Under this, cards have been issued to 35.36 crore people so far. The maximum number of 49 cards have been issued to women.

At present, an additional top-up of Rs 5 lakh has been given to people above 70 years of age. Therefore, for families which are already covered, the coverage amount has become Rs 10 lakh. Many states have also increased the coverage amount.

Treatment of these diseases

The scheme provides 949 types of treatments, including 27 speciality treatments. Most of the cases covered are cancer, kidney disease, heart disease.

12 crore families included

12.37 crore families have been included in the scheme. So far 7.79 crore people have been admitted to the hospital, of which 3.61 crore were women. Out of these, 49 cards have been issued to women.

The central government has made a big change in the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Earlier this scheme did not include elderly people of all categories. Now all people above the age of 70 years will be able to take advantage of this scheme. Under this scheme, treatment up to Rs 5 lakh can be availed for free.

The central government has made this big announcement on Wednesday. Now the elderly aged 70 years and above will be included in the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY). The government said that about 4.5 crore families will benefit from this step. There are 6 crore elderly people in these families. They will get free health insurance up to Rs 5 lakh on the basis of family.

All senior citizens aged 70 years and above are eligible

The government said, ‘With this approval, all senior citizens aged 70 years and above, irrespective of their financial status, will be eligible to avail the benefits of AB PM-JAY. Eligible senior citizens will be issued a new separate card under AB PM-JAY. Senior citizens aged 70 years and above who belong to families already covered under AB PM-JAY will get an additional top-up cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per year for themselves (which they will not have to share with other family members who are below 70 years of age).’

Elderly people who are already taking advantage of insurance plans have options

It further states that all other senior citizens aged 70 years and above will get a cover of up to Rs 5 lakh on a family basis. Senior citizens aged 70 years and above who are already availing benefits under other public health insurance schemes such as Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), Ayushman Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) can either choose their existing scheme or opt for AB PMJAY. It has been clarified that senior citizens aged 70 years and above who are already availing benefits under private health insurance policies or Employees State Insurance Scheme will be eligible to receive benefits under AB PM-JAY. The

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had promised in its Lok Sabha election manifesto that it would expand the Ayushman Bharat scheme to include all persons from the transgender community and senior citizens aged 70 years and above.

The Union Health Ministry has proposed to double the insurance cover under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana to Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh for women. The proposal has been prepared by the Group of Secretaries (GoS) on the Social Sector and has been included in the key priorities of the Union Health Ministry for the next five years.

The ministry also plans to increase the number of beds in private hospitals. Currently, there are about 7.22 lakh private hospital beds under Ayushman Bharat, i.e. Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. It is proposed to increase it to 9.32 lakh by 2026-27 and 11.12 lakh by 2028-29.

Ayushman Bharat Yojana, also known as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), currently provides an annual insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh per family. The scheme covers about 55 crore people in the country, which is 40 percent of the total population. According to the new proposal, the insurance cover will be increased to Rs 10 lakh per family, and in case of special diseases, this cover can be increased to Rs 15 lakh for women. Along with this, the target has been set to increase the number of beneficiaries from 55 crore to 100 crore.

Recommendations will be sent to the Finance Ministry

According to a report by the Indian Express, this proposal is based on the recommendations of a committee headed by NITI Aayog member VK Paul. Based on the committee’s report, this proposal will be formalized and sent to the Finance Ministry and the Cabinet for approval.

The BJP considers the Ayushman Bharat scheme as one of the successes of the NDA government and the party’s manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections this year promises to extend its coverage to all citizens above the age of 70. Various groups of secretaries have been tasked with mapping the goals from the BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ and incorporating these into the election timelines. Earlier this year, a panel was set up to evaluate the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme and reduce fraud. The panel is expected to submit its report within a month.

• After searching, you will know whether you are eligible to take advantage of this scheme or not. If your name is not included in the list of Ayushman Bharat Yojana, then No Result Found will come in the search result box.

• If you are eligible for this scheme then you have to register for it. For registration, you will have to visit your nearest Atal Seva Kendra or Jan Seva Kendra and submit the photocopy/photocopy of all your original documents.
