<h3><strong>Banks set the deadline</strong></h3>
<p>Every bank sets a time limit for not breaking the FD before the completion of the tenure. If you break the FD after crossing this limit, then there is no penalty. However, if the FD is broken before the time limit given by the bank, then the bank charges a certain percentage of the amount as penalty. This amount may vary according to each bank.</p>
<h3><strong>SBI Bank FD Rules</strong></h3>
<p>SBI Bank will charge a penalty of 0.5% for breaking a term deposit FD of Rs 5 lakh. However, in cases of more than Rs 5 lakh, the penalty rate will be 1%.</p>
<h3><strong>ICICI Bank FD Rules</strong></h3>
<p>ICICI Bank (ICICI Bank FD Penalty) on premature FD withdrawal is decided as per the rate fixed at the time of the contract. If the maturity period of FD of Rs 5 crore is one year, then a penalty of 0.50% will be charged. Similarly, if the maturity period is more than one year, the penalty rate can be 1%.</p>
<h3><strong>PNB Bank FD Rules</strong></h3>
<p>Punjab National Bank charges a penalty of 1 per cent of interest rate for all tenures in case of premature cancellation or part withdrawal.</p>
<h3><strong>HDFC Bank FD Rules</strong></h3>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Federal Bank Charges</strong> : Federal Bank, one of the private sector banks, has changed its service charges and fees. These new charges will be applicable from June 1, 2025. These changes include ATM transaction charges, cash transaction charges, penalty for not maintaining average monthly balance (AMB), locker rent and charges related to closing the account.</p>
<h3><strong>Cash transaction charge</strong></h3>
<p>For savings accounts, customers can avail 5 free cash transactions per month or deposit or withdraw up to Rs 5 lakh in cash, whichever is earlier. After this, a charge of Rs 4 will be levied for every Rs 1,000 or part thereof, with a minimum charge of Rs 100 per transaction.</p>
<p>Penalty for not maintaining Average Monthly Balance (AMB)</p>
<p>Club, Delight, all NRI and resident savings scheme account holders will be required to maintain an AMB of Rs 5,000.</p>
<p>General customers will be charged Rs 75 for a reduction of up to 20% and a maximum of Rs 375 for a reduction of 100%.</p>
<p>This charge on senior citizens will be between Rs 60 and Rs 300.</p>
<p>For all accounts in rural branches, the charges will be slightly lower — general customers will pay Rs 60 &#8211; Rs 300, and senior citizens will pay Rs 50 &#8211; Rs 250.</p>
<h3><strong>ATM transaction charges</strong></h3>
<p>Transactions beyond the free limit at other bank ATMs will be charged Rs 23 for financial transactions and Rs 12 for non-financial transactions (like balance enquiry).</p>
<ul>
<li>A charge of Rs 25 per transaction will be levied for rejected transactions due to low balance.</li>
<li>No charges will be levied at Federal Bank ATMs.</li>
<li>Inward cheque return charges</li>
<li>400 rupees per time for rural areas and senior citizens,</li>
<li>For other customers, a charge of Rs 500 per time has been fixed.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>Locker Rent</strong></h3>
<p>Rural and Semi-Urban Branches</p>
<p><strong>Small locker:</strong> Annual rent of Rs 2,000</p>
<p><strong>Medium:</strong> Fare Rs 3,300</p>
<p><strong>Big:</strong> Fare Rs 5,500</p>
<h3><strong>Urban and Metro branches</strong></h3>
<p><strong>Small locker:</strong> Rent Rs 2,950 to Rs 5,000</p>
<p><strong>Medium:</strong> Rs 3,950 to Rs 6,800</p>
<p><strong>Big:</strong> Fares range from Rs 7,400 to Rs 12,800</p>
<h3><strong>Account closure charges</strong></h3>
<p>100 rupees if closed within 6 months</p>
<p>If closed between 6-12 months: Rs 100 for rural or senior citizen accounts, Rs 300 for other accounts. Also, there will be no charge if the account is closed within 14 days of the first deposit.</p>
