Banks will remain closed in Meghalaya today

Banks are closed in Meghalaya on Monday 14 July 2025. The reason for this is the traditional festival of Beh Denkhlam. This festival is celebrated by the Jaintia community. It means driving away disease and evil. It is a puja performed for harvest and health.

On which dates and where will the banks remain closed?

July 14 (Monday)

Meghalaya – Banks will remain closed on account of Beh Dekhlam festival.

16 July (Wednesday)

Uttarakhand – Banks will remain closed on the occasion of Harela festival. This festival is especially celebrated in Kumaon and some areas of Himachal state.

July 17 (Thursday)

Meghalaya – Banks will remain closed on the death anniversary of U Tirot Singh. Tirot Singh was a freedom fighter.

19 July (Saturday)

Tripura – Banks will not open due to Ker Puja. This puja is dedicated to the local deity Ker.

20 July (Sunday)

It is a weekly holiday, so banks will remain closed across the country.

Fourth Saturday of the month – Banks will remain closed across the country.

27 July (Sunday)

Weekly Holiday – Holiday in all banks.

July 28 (Monday)

Sikkim – Banks will remain closed on account of Drukpa Chhe-ji festival.

Online banking service will remain operational

If you have to do some work without going to the bank branch, then there is no need to panic. Even during the holidays, online services like net banking, mobile banking and UPI will remain operational 24×7. With this, you can easily do things like transferring money, paying bills, checking balance. If you have to do things like depositing a cheque, making a draft, withdrawing or depositing cash, then finish them before the holidays. Especially in those states where banks are going to remain closed for two or more consecutive days.

The 11 days of July holidays include weekly holidays. Weekly holidays include all Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays. Digital banking services will continue

During these holidays, bank branches will remain closed, but customers can transact through digital means like ATM, internet banking, mobile apps. However, some services like NEFT, RTGS or check clearance can be carried forward on the next working day.

What to do?

If you have to do some important work in the bank—like depositing cash, getting a demand draft or getting a cheque cleared—then keep these holidays in mind and finish your important work beforehand.
