Bank Holidays 2025 : With the beginning of September 2025, the festive season will also begin and with this the bank holidays will also increase. If you have any important banking work pending, then it would be better to plan yours in advance, because this month banks will remain closed for a total of 15 days due to different states and festivals across the country. Out of these, 9 days will be due to festivals and regional holidays, while the rest include Sundays and weekly holidays on second and fourth Saturdays.

Holidays due to festivals

This month, major festivals like Onam, Eid-e-Milad, Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri and Durga Puja are falling. Due to this, the functioning of banks will be affected in many cities and states.

September 3 (Tuesday): Banks will remain closed in Ranchi on account of Karma Puja.

September 4 (Wednesday) : First Onam holiday in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.

September 5 (Thursday): Banks will be closed in many major cities including Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad on festivals like Eid-e-Milad, Ganesh Chaturthi, Thiruvonam and Indrajatra.

September 6 (Friday): There will be a holiday in Gangtok, Jammu, Raipur and Srinagar on account of Indrajatra.

September 12 (Thursday): Banks will remain closed in Jaipur, Jammu and Srinagar on the day after Eid-e-Milad.

September 22 (Monday): Holiday on Navratri Sthapana in Jaipur.

September 23 (Tuesday): Banks will remain closed in Jaipur on the occasion of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji’s birthday.

September 29 (Monday): Banks closed in Agartala, Guwahati, Jaipur and Kolkata on account of Maha Saptami and Durga Puja.

September 30 (Tuesday): Banks will not open in Ranchi, Kolkata, Patna, Bhubaneswar and other cities on Maha Ashtami/Durga Puja.

Weekly Holidays

Apart from the festivals, there will also be regular weekly holidays in September. Banks will be closed across the country on these dates: September 7 (Sunday), September 13 (second Saturday), September 14 (Sunday), September 21 (Sunday), September 27 (fourth Saturday) and September 28 (Sunday).

What should customers do?

If you are going to visit a bank branch for some important work, then make your plan by looking at this list of holidays. However, digital services like net banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATM will not be affected. During holidays, only check clearing and other offline services will be processed on the next working day. Bank Holidays June 2025: The Reserve Bank of India has released the list of holidays for June 2025. There will be no work in banks for 12 days next month. You can see the complete list of holidays here.

A new month i.e. June will begin after four days. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the list of bank holidays for June 2025. Next month, banks will remain closed for a total of 12 days. These include several regional festivals including Bakrid, Sundays and weekly holidays on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Every year, the Reserve Bank of India prepares a list of holidays for all banks in consultation with the state governments and makes it public on its official website.

All government and private banks across the country remain closed on every Sunday and on the second and fourth Saturday of the month. Apart from this, the RBI has also announced some state-level holidays which will be valid only in the respective states. Therefore, customers are advised that if they want to visit a bank branch to get any urgent work done next month, they should first check the list of holidays to avoid any inconvenience.

Banks in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala will remain closed on Friday, June 6, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid). Along with this, a holiday for Bakrid has been declared across the country on Saturday, June 7. After this, there will be a weekly holiday on Sunday, June 8. Thus, people living in Kerala can get a long weekend of three days.

What to do when banks are closed?

If the bank is closed, customers can use net banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATM services. Account holders can continue to transact through these digital services. Only cheque clearing and other physical transactions, which come under the Negotiable Instruments Act, will not be possible during the holidays.
