The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has improved the system keeping in mind the convenience of entrepreneurs. Now the promoters and directors of a company can complete their biometric authentication to complete the GST registration process in their home state itself.

Earlier, to obtain GST registration, either an OTP verification process was required or biometric authentication had to be done by visiting the GST Facilitation Center in the registered jurisdiction of the company.

Now biometric authentication will be done in your home state as well

Biometric authentication used to happen only in the state where you are registering your GST. However, now the biometric authentication process can be completed in your home state instead of the state where GST registration is being sought.

For example, if your company is getting registered in Delhi and you are from Maharashtra, then you have to go to Delhi and complete the GST registration. With this update made by GSTN on March 3, 2025, now you can complete the GST registration from Maharashtra itself without coming to Delhi.

Biometric authentication was introduced to curb fake registrations

Experts say that the government had introduced biometric authentication to curb fake registrations for claiming input tax credit (ITC). By choosing the option of biometric authentication, taxpayers get separate evidence about the physical verification of company officials, which can strengthen the case in court if needed.

What do experts say

Experts say that all those registering for GST should always opt for biometric authentication as it adds an extra layer of security and authenticity to GST registration. Earlier, when the biometric authentication option was not available, there were many fake registrations and misuse of input tax credit (ITC).

The notices being sent by the software after checking the GST returns have given the traders sleepless nights.

Notices worth crores of rupees were sent to small traders with turnover of lakhs of rupees. The person who did not take Input Tax Credit (ITC), has also sought the account of ITC. Taking cognizance of the large number of complaints, State Tax Commissioner Ministi S has directed to withdraw such notices.

Online module has been created. Online notices are being downloaded from this system and are being sent to the taxpayers from the portal. Here the software got confused and sent a large number of wrong notices. Such taxpayers whose turnover is only 40-50 lakhs, notices worth crores of rupees were sent to them.

These traders do not come under the purview of GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C but notices were issued to them explaining the difference between sales and tax. Similarly, GSTR-9C is not applicable to traders with turnover less than Rs 2 crore, but they were also put in the dock. Sent him a notice worth crores of rupees.

GSTN has given relief to big GST registered businessmen. GSTN has once again extended the last date for uploading e-invoices to traders of more than 100 crores.

GSTN has given relief to big GST registered businessmen. GSTN has once again extended the last date for uploading e-invoices to traders of more than 100 crores. This will benefit those businessmen whose turnover is 100 crores or more. Where the businessmen had to upload their e-invoices in 7 days, now they have been given more time in this.

Let us tell you, according to GSTN, businessmen had to upload their e-invoices on IRP i.e. Invoice Registration Portal. But now its deadline has been extended once again. Now the businessmen have got 3 more months for this.

Invoice to be uploaded on IRP within 7 days

From May 1, GSTN had implemented the rule on the IRP portal for uploading e-invoices from traders within 7 days. Under which they had to upload e-challan within 7 days. But, now its deadline has been extended for 3 months. According to the earlier rule, if companies do not upload their e-invoices on the IRP portal, then they do not get the benefit of input tax benefits available under it.

got 3 months more time

Let me tell you, businessmen of more than 100 crores had to submit their invoices on the IRP portal for 7 days. But on Sunday, GSTN said that this arrangement has been postponed for 3 months. Meaning if businessmen upload their invoices on the portal on the 8th day instead of 7 days, then they will not be allowed to do so. That is, if someone has billed on May 1, then the businessman will have to submit the challan of that invoice on the IRP portal by May 7. He will not be able to upload it on 8th May.

The post Big relief for businessmen!

GST Invoice Registration Portal: Changes have been made in the rules regarding GST network transactions. The new rule will come into effect from May 1, 2023 and it will be necessary for businessmen to follow it.

Changes have been made in the rules for timely compliance of GST compliance. An update has come from the government regarding Goods and Service Tax (GST). Changes have been made in the rules regarding GST network transactions. The new rule will come into effect from 1 May 2023 and it will be necessary for businessmen to follow it. GSTN has said that from May 1, it will be mandatory to upload the receipt of any transaction on the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) within 7 days. Changes have been made in the rules for timely compliance of GST compliance.

According to GSTN, it will be necessary for all businessmen with a turnover of more than 100 crores to follow this rule from May 1. Under the new rule, businesses with a turnover of more than 100 crores will not be able to upload invoices older than 7 days. This means that the receipt of transactions older than 7 days will not be able to be uploaded on GSTN and returns cannot be claimed on it. Let everyone know that this rule is only about invoices. Businessmen will be able to upload debit and credit notes even after 7 days.

Big loss to traders

GST rules say that if an invoice is not uploaded on IRP, then traders will not be able to take advantage of Input Tax Credit (ITC) on it. ITC is claimed to get back the difference between the raw material and the final product of a product. At present, companies can upload their e-invoices anytime, but they will have only 7 days after the new rule comes into force.

What will be the benefit of the change?

Experts believe that the new rule can be helpful in increasing the GST collection. Along with this, companies will also get the benefit of ITC on time. Its main objective is to strengthen the process of digitization. Recently, the government had also made it mandatory for businesses or companies with a turnover of more than 100 crores to generate GST invoices for every transaction.

Experts say that this process is being implemented slowly and soon it will be made mandatory for all businessmen. At present, it has been made mandatory for traders with turnover of more than 10 crores to generate electronic invoices for all B2B transactions. The government had implemented this rule from October 1, 2022.

Now both government and business will be benefited by timely uploading of e-invoices on IRP. On the one hand, it will help in increasing the GST collection and on the other hand, traders will be able to get the benefit of ITC soon.

Union Budget 2023: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget in Parliament on February 1. People’s expectations are attached to this budget. Industry, businessmen, taxpayers, students, general public and government employees also have hope from this.

Especially the central employees hope that in the budget of the financial year 2023-24, the government can take some decision on the outstanding dearness allowance of 18 months. Amidst the apprehensions of a new wave of Corona coming, the expectation of central employees has increased considerably. Now the question arises whether the Finance Minister will announce the release of funds for the payment of the outstanding Dearness Allowance (DA) of the central employees?

Decision expected on fitment factor

According to media reports, it is expected that in the Union Budget 2023, a decision may be taken on the payment of the outstanding dearness allowance for 18 months. Although no announcement is made regarding the salary of government employees in the budget, but in the last complete final budget of the Modi government, the central employees are hopeful that the government can include the expenditure of 18 months’ outstanding dearness allowance in its budget. Huh.

How is the remaining 18 months DA left?

Let us tell that the increase in dearness allowance is announced twice a year by the central government for its employees. Since February 2020, when the whole world was devastated by the Corona epidemic and all economic activities came to a standstill, the central government did not increase the dearness allowance from January 2020 to June 2021. After this, on July 1, 2021, the government had increased the dearness allowance by 11 percent.

Before that the government did not increase the dearness allowance three times. Although, before January 2020, the dearness allowance of government employees was 17 per cent, but after increasing the DA by 11 per cent in July 2021, it reached 28 per cent. At the same time, the central employees are expecting payment of DA arrears of 18 months.

Government has refused

However, the government has refused to pay dearness allowance for 18 months to the central employees. According to media reports, Rajya Sabha MP Naran Bhai J Rathwa had asked a question in the Parliament whether the government will pay 18 months’ arrears of dearness allowance to central employees?

In response to this, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chowdhary had said that many applications have come in relation to giving dearness allowance and dearness relief for 18 months to central government employees and pensioners, but the government is not yet considering giving DA and dearness relief. Is.

All industries, businessmen, taxpayers, experts etc. are sending their box of expectations from the budget (Budget 2023) to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman through different mediums.

At the same time, tax experts have said that in order to make the Optional Tax Regime attractive in the upcoming general budget, deduction should be allowed through PPF and other tax saving schemes. Along with this, he has demanded to increase the limit of maximum 30 percent tax slab to Rs 20 lakh.

The government had introduced Optional Income Tax Regime in the General Budget 2020-21 in which individuals and Hindu Undivided Families (HUF) were taxed with lower rates. However, other tax exemptions like rent allowance, home loan interest and investment under 80C are not given in this arrangement.

Total income up to Rs 2.5 lakh tax free

Under this, total income up to Rs 2.5 lakh is tax free. After this, 5 per cent on total income from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, 10 per cent on total income from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh, 15 per cent on income from Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, from Rs 10 lakh Income up to Rs 12.5 lakh is taxed at 20 per cent, income from Rs 12.5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh is taxed at 25 per cent and income above Rs 15 lakh is taxed at 30 per cent.

Taxpayers had to pay more tax in many cases

However, this scheme did not attract much attention of taxpayers, because in many cases taxpayers had to pay more tax on adopting it. Experts believe that in order to make the optional tax regime attractive, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman should include some popular tax deductions in the upcoming budget, apart from increasing the limit of tax-free income and the highest tax rate.

Demand to make tax rates more rational

Rakesh Nangia, chairman of Nangia Andersen India, said that the government should make tax rates more rational in the optional tax regime. He advocated to make it in line with the previous deductions or exemptions.

Expressing a similar view, Deloitte India partner Sudhakar Sethuraman said the government may consider allowing some deductions. He said that this should be done without complicating the process. He said that life insurance premium, home loan interest and other deductions can also be given in this scheme.

Union Budget 2023 : Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the budget on 1 February 2023. All industries, businessmen, taxpayers, general public and government employees are also sending their expectations from the Union Budget to Nirmala Sitharaman through different mediums.

After Kovid and now amidst the apprehensions of a new wave coming, everyone is expecting the government to come up with such a budget which will increase the disposable income which will help people to increase savings and investment. The only question in the mind of government employees is whether the salary of central employees will be increased in the budget this time. Will the finance minister give green signal to the fitment factor in the budget?

There may be a decision in the fitment factor in the budget

It is expected that a decision on the fitment factor may be taken in Budget 2023. This time it is expected that after getting approval from the cabinet, the fitment factor will be included in the expenditure of the budget. If the central government increases the fitment factor, then there can be a big increase in the salary of government employees. The salary coming in the hands of central employees will increase.

The fitment factor decides the salary of government employees.

The fitment factor serves to decide the basic salary for all central government employees. The Modi government last increased the fitment factor in the year 2016. Then the government had increased the minimum basic salary of the employees from Rs 6,000 to Rs 18,000. If the fitment factor is increased again, then the minimum basic salary can be Rs 26,000. At present the minimum basic pay ie salary is Rs 18,000, which will increase to Rs 26,000.

All these allowances will increase due to increase in basic pay (Dearness Allowance – DA)

If the basic pay increases from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000, then the allowances on the basic pay will also increase. Dearness Allowance (DA) is equal to 38% of the basic pay. The calculation of DA is calculated at 38% of the basic salary. That is, with the increase in the basic salary, the dearness allowance will also automatically increase. The government can do a bumper increase in salary in the budget.

The last date for filing GSTR 9 form is 31st December for businessmen whose annual turnover is more than Rs 2 crore. The government has urged the people to file this form before the 31st.

According to the instructions issued by the government, it is necessary to fill GSTR 9 form for taxpayers having a turnover of more than 2 crores in the financial year 2021-22. However, Input Service Distributor, TDS Deductor, TCS Collector, Casual Taxable Person and Overseas Taxable Person are not required to fill it.

The government has said that taxpayers whose annual turnover is more than Rs 5 crore for 2021-22, along with filing annual return in GSTR 9, it is also necessary to file a salp attested reconciliation statement in GSTR 9C. This instruction has been issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs.

In the beginning of December, the businessmen got a big relief. The government had given a big relief to the businessmen regarding the GSTR 9C form. Businesses with turnover of more than Rs 5 crore also fill GSTR 9C form but they had to get it certified by a chartered accountant. However, the government has changed it and traders themselves can attest to it.

What is GSTR 9 form

This is an audit form which has to be filled by businessmen with a turnover of more than Rs 2 crore. Similarly, there is a GSTR 9C form for businesses with a turnover of more than Rs 5 crore. In this, the businessman has annual audited gross and taxable turnover. GSTR 9C is divided into 2 parts, A and B. Part A contains all the information about tax and in part B verification is done which was earlier done by CA but now businessmen can do it themselves.

What will happen if the form is not filled?

If the taxpayer does not file these forms, then a fee of Rs 200 is levied for every day of delay. It takes Rs 100 under Central GST and Rs 100 under State GST. There is no specific penalty for late filing of GSTR 9C. However, if the taxpayer delays filing GSTR 9C by filing GSTR 9 in time, then he can be fined up to Rs 50000. You can fill it by visiting the GST portal.
