CBSE Board Exam: The Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to increase the examination fees for class 10th and 12th. Students appearing for the CBSE board exam in the year 2026 will have to pay the increased fees.

The Central Board of Secondary Education has recently taken a big step and announced an increase in the fees for board examinations. This change will be effective from the academic session 2025-26. This decision was taken in the 141st Governing Body meeting of CBSE held on 25 June 2025. In this, the board talked about meeting the operating cost and the cost of modern technical features by increasing the fee structure which has been kept stable for the last 4-5 years.

CBSE BoardUnder One Nation, One Student ID , the Government of India has also made APAAR ID (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) mandatory for students from class 9 to 12. This is a 12 digit unique ID, which digitally integrates the academic profile of the students. This will help in data management, integrity of records and seamlessly connecting students to platforms like DigiLocker and Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) .

How will the CBSE board exam fees increase?

The Central Board of Secondary Education has increased the fee by 6.66% in theory subjects and about 10% in Nepal and other countries. You can understand the fee hike structure of CBSE Board Exam 2026 here:

Earlier this fee was Rs 1500. This increase has resulted in a slight increase in the total fee, which will not put any extra burden on the students or parents .

The fee for each practical subject has been increased from ₹ 150 to ₹ 160. This will especially affect class 12 students. This increase has been made to increase necessary resources and lab operations.
