CISF Vacancy 2025:

On July 22, 2025, the President approved the increase in the strength of CISF from 2 lakh to 2.2 lakh. Currently, there are 1.62 lakh soldiers in the force, while the remaining 58,000 posts are vacant. About 14,000 people will be recruited every year. These new soldiers will be deployed at key locations like airports, ports, thermal power plants, nuclear sites, hydroelectric projects and prisons in Jammu and Kashmir.

Why are these recruitments happening?

Home Minister Amit Shah has planned to eliminate Naxalite activities in Maoist-affected states like Chhattisgarh by March 2026. There has been a significant reduction in Left-wing violence in the last 10 years. In 2013, 126 districts in 10 states were affected, which reduced to 38 in 2024. Now these areas are expected to become industrial hubs, so strengthening the CISF is necessary to increase security. An official said that as Maoism decreases, new factories and projects come up, soldiers will be needed.

CISF started with 3000 soldiers

CISF started with 3,000 soldiers in 1969 which now guards 359 places. Last year it was sent to 7 new places like Parliament House, Ayodhya Airport, Hazaribagh Coal Mining Project, Pune’s ICMR-NIV, Thermal Power Projects of Buxar and Etah and Beas Sutlej Link Project of Mandi. It is going to grow bigger in the next 5 years. This recruitment will not only increase security but also bring jobs and progress in Maoist affected areas.

Who can apply?

The official notification is not out yet, but in CISF recruitments, usually 10th or 12th pass youth get a chance. You have to pass the physical test. You must be medically fit and also have to give a written test. Your age should be between 18 and 23 years. SC/ST and OBC can get some relaxation in age. Due to the increasing number of passengers at security checkpoints before boarding the aircraft, the BCAS and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), responsible for airport security, have tightened the rules related to the new hand baggage policy. This strict action by the BCAS and CISF has prompted the airlines to do the same.

One hand bag and a limit of up to 7 kg

Under the new rules of BCAS, passengers will now be allowed to carry only one hand bag inside the aircraft. Whether it is a domestic flight or an international one, passengers will be allowed to carry only one hand or cabin bag. Apart from this, it will be mandatory to check-in any luggage.

According to Air India, Economy or Premium Economy class passengers are allowed to carry a maximum of 7 kg of hand luggage. While for First or Business class passengers, the limit is around 10 kg. The size of the luggage should not exceed 55 cm (height), 40 cm (length) and 20 cm (width).

Discount on tickets booked before May 2, 2024

Airlines have clarified that the total dimensions of hand baggage should not exceed 115 cm. If the weight or size of the baggage exceeds the specified limit, passengers may have to pay additional charges. However, passengers who have booked tickets before May 2, 2024, will be given a special discount.

• Up to 8 kg for Economy Class
• Up to 10 kg for Premium Economy Class
• Up to 12 kg for first or business class

This discount will only apply to tickets booked before May 2, 2024. If any changes are made to the ticket after May 2, 2024, the passenger will have to comply with the new baggage rules.

IndiGo Airlines Hand Baggage Rules

According to IndiGo Airlines, passengers can carry one cabin bag with an overall dimension of 115 cm and a weight of up to 7 kg. In addition, passengers are allowed to carry one personal bag, such as a lady’s purse or a small laptop bag, which should not weigh more than 3 kg.
