Mumbai. 10 passengers were injured in a stampede at Bandra Railway Terminus in the country’s financial capital Mumbai. Some of them are said to be in critical condition.

Many people were injured in the stampede due to the huge crowd of passengers on the railway platform and then the sudden chaos to board the train. On the occasion of Diwali and Chhath Puja, a large number of people are going to their homes, so a lot of crowd is being seen. The incident at Bandra Railway Terminus shook the railway administration. Now the Indian Railways has taken a big decision. The sale of platform tickets has been temporarily banned at selected railway stations. Its purpose is to stop the increasing crowd on the platform.

After several people were injured in a stampede on the platform of Bandra Railway Terminus, Central Railway took a big decision. An order was issued on Sunday regarding platform tickets, in which it has been decided to temporarily stop its sale. While issuing this order, Central Railway said that on the occasion of Diwali and Chhath, a large number of people are going to their homes, so people are also coming to the platform to see off their relatives. Due to this, there is a lot of crowd on the platform and railway premises. To curb this, Central Railway has issued an order to temporarily stop the sale of platform tickets.

Platform tickets stopped at these stations with immediate effect

In view of Diwali and Chhath Puja, the crowd has increased significantly at almost all the major stations of Mumbai. People from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh live in Mumbai in large numbers. On the occasion of Diwali and Chhath, they go to their respective homes. Every day thousands of passengers come to railway stations to take trains. Along with them, people also come to see them off, due to which there is a lot of crowd on the platform. To control the crowd, Central Railway has banned the sale of platform tickets till 8 November 2024. This order has been implemented with immediate effect at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Dadar, Kurla LTT, Thane, Kalyan, Pune and Nagpur stations.

2 additional trains between Mumbai-Gorakhpur

In the order issued by the Central Railway, it has been said that platform tickets will not be sold at the concerned stations till 8 November 2024. This decision has been taken to control the crowd. However, the elderly and the medically needy have been exempted from this. Central Railway has issued another statement informing about running two additional trains between Mumbai and Gorakhpur. Railways said that unreserved trains will depart from CSMT on October 28 at 2:30 pm. This special train will reach Gorakhpur stopping at many places.

Indian Railway News Today The official has said that work will be carried out in Thane (fast line) from 12.30 am on Thursday night to 3.30 pm on Sunday. The second block will be of 36 hours at CSMT.

Those traveling from CSMT i.e. Chhatrapati Maharaj Terminus may have to face troubles from Thursday to Sunday afternoon.
Why will the block be imposed?

Railways is going to impose a mega block for widening platforms at two stations.
Goyal says that after increasing the width of the platform, facilities like escalators or wide stairs will be available. After the widening of platforms 10 and 11 at CSMT, a train of 24 coaches will be able to stop instead of a train of 16 coaches. According to media reports, the work related to widening has already been completed and the mega block is being imposed due to non-interlocking work.
