The state employees were currently getting 46 percent dearness allowance. Earlier, the amount of increase in dearness allowance of the employees was paid as arrears. Now all government employees will get 50 percent dearness allowance from January 1, 2024. The Chief Minister said that this is a time of double happiness for the employees of the state, because along with Diwali, November 1 is also the foundation day of the state.

It is known that the employees of the state had been demanding an increase in dearness allowance for a long time. The central government has increased the dearness allowance of its employees to 53 percent. At the same time, the employees of the state were getting only 46 percent dearness allowance till now. Various employee organizations had even warned of lockout regarding their demands.

Now how will the calculation be done?

Actually, under the Seventh Pay Commission, the total dearness allowance is calculated by multiplying the current rate of Dearness Allowance with the Basic Pay. Accordingly, on the basis of the current rate of 12%, if your basic salary is 20 thousand, then DA is (20,000 x12)/100. Dearness allowance percentage = Average of CPI of last 12 months-115.76. Now dividing this amount by 115.76, the result obtained will be multiplied by 100. And then this will be your dearness allowance. Similarly, there will be a difference of Rs 720 on monthly basis in the salary of those with minimum basic salary of Rs 18,000.
