The Delhi Government has approved the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, a new welfare scheme aimed at strengthening the economic independence and social security of women. Under the initiative, eligible women will receive ₹2,500 per month as financial assistance.

The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at the Delhi Secretariat.

₹5,110 crore allocated for the scheme

To implement the Lakshmi Yojana, the Delhi Government has earmarked ₹5,110 crore in the 2026-27 Budget.

According to the government, the scheme is designed to provide regular financial support while encouraging women’s participation in education, healthcare, skill development and savings.

Registration to begin on August 1

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the online registration portal for the scheme will open on August 1.

Eligible women will be able to apply through the designated government portal once registrations commence.

Eligibility criteria

According to the Delhi Government, women must meet the following conditions to receive benefits under the Lakshmi Yojana:

• Must be between 21 and 60 years of age
• Annual family income should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh
• Must satisfy other eligibility conditions prescribed by the government during registration

Officials said the verification process will be carried out before beneficiaries are enrolled under the scheme.

More than financial assistance

The Chief Minister said the Lakshmi Yojana is intended to go beyond direct cash transfers.

What will be available under Ayushman Yojana?

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that under this scheme, Delhi beneficiaries will get free treatment up to Rs 10 lakh. In this, health coverage of Rs 5 lakh will be provided by the Delhi government and Rs 5 lakh by the central government. Ayushman card holders will be able to get treatment up to Rs 10 lakh in any private hospital empanelled under Delhi government and central government health scheme.

Who will get the benefit?

Talking about the criteria of Ayushman Yojana, all other senior citizens aged 70 years and above will be given a cover of up to Rs 10 lakh per year on family basis. On the other hand, if they are already covered by any scheme, then also they will be given a cover of Rs 5 lakh under this scheme. Apart from this, even if you are taking advantage of health insurance or private health insurance, you can still avail the benefit of Rs 5 lakh annually under the new card of Ayushman Yojana.

How to apply under Ayushman Bharat Yojana? 

• First of all go to the official website https://abdm.gov.in/. 
• Now the eligible person will have to get his Aadhar card or ration card verified at the PMJAY kiosk. 
• After this, the family certificate will have to be presented and complete details will have to be filled.  
• Now you can print your e-card with AB-PMJAY ID. 

How many members of a family can get a card?

When a scheme is launched by the government, it also releases details related to eligibility. In this government scheme, no such limit has been set to provide convenience to the needy.
