CCTV cameras will be installed on all 15 underpasses of Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME) from Ghaziabad’s UP Gate to Dasna. With their help, traffic will be controlled as well as vehicles breaking the rules will be challaned. Police will be able to keep an eye on every activity.

To make traffic safe and smooth on Meerut Expressway, the traffic police has proposed to install CCTV cameras in the underpass. On receiving the proposal, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) started a survey to install cameras. A detailed project report is being prepared. It will be sent to the ministry for approval. By installing CCTV cameras, those who violate traffic rules can be monitored. Security on the expressway will improve after the cameras are installed.

Police booth will be built at Lal Kuan for surveillance: NHAI officials said that a police booth will be opened near Lal Kuan for surveillance of highways and expressways. NHAI will get the booth prepared. After the booth is opened, police will reach the spot immediately on receiving any information. This booth will be made permanent.

Cameras are already installed on Meerut Expressway:

Cameras are already installed on all four sections of Meerut Expressway. The cameras are connected to the control room built in Dasna. Every vehicle is being monitored with the help of cameras. Drivers who break traffic rules are being challaned.

You will get these benefits

● Traffic management: Footage from the cameras will be used to monitor accidents and other incidents, leading to improved traffic management.

● Security: Cameras will be used to prevent crime and identify criminals. This will keep an eye on the inside of the vehicle.

● Enforcement of traffic rules: Action will be taken to identify vehicles violating traffic rules and impose fines on them.

Arvind Kumar, Project Director, NHAI, “Cameras will be installed on all the underpasses of Meerut Expressway. The traffic police has given this proposal. DPR for installing cameras will be prepared and sent to the ministry for approval. As soon as approval is received, the work of installing cameras will be started.”

The post CCTV Cameras to Be Installed in All 15 Underpasses of Delhi-Meerut Expressway: Know the Key Benefits first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.

Delhi-Meerut Expressway: Due to Kanwar Yatra, the Delhi-Meerut Expressway will remain closed for five days. Entry of heavy vehicles will be banned for 12 days from July 11. During this time, only Kanwar pilgrims will travel on the expressway…

In view of the Kanwar Yatra, the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME) will be completely closed for general traffic from July 19 to July 23 (Shivratri). According to the order issued by the Ghaziabad administration, this ban will be applicable on a total stretch of 56 km from Kashi Toll Plaza in Meerut to UP Gate in Ghaziabad. Entry of heavy vehicles on this route will be banned from July 11, while entry of cars and other light vehicles will be banned from July 19.

The closure of this expressway connecting Delhi to Meerut, Noida and other areas will cause a lot of trouble to the people. NH-9 running parallel to the expressway will remain open for general traffic, but the traffic load on it is likely to increase. This decision of the administration has been taken to conduct the Kanwar Yatra organized every year in a safe and systematic manner. During this time, only Kanwar pilgrims will be able to walk on the expressway, while general passengers will have to go through alternative routes. Traffic Police ACP Ziauddin Ahmed said that alternative routes have been decided for the convenience of the general public.

What are the other routes?

Light vehicles coming from Meerut to Ghaziabad will come via Hapur via NH-9. Similarly, heavy vehicles coming from Ghazipur will be sent towards Meerut via Dasna and then Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE). In previous years also, common passengers had to face a lot of trouble due to similar closures and diversions during the Kanwar Yatra. Even in the year 2023, thousands of vehicles were stranded for several hours due to temporary diversion on NH-9. Most of the vehicles were diverted towards DND Flyway, Noida Expressway and EPE, causing long traffic jams.

To keep the traffic smooth during the Yatra, the police has prepared a detailed plan for Ghaziabad. Vehicles going from Baghpat towards Delhi will be sent via Tronica City and Sonia Vihar. Entry of heavy vehicles will be restricted at Loni border. At the same time, vehicles coming to Ghaziabad from Hapur and Bulandshahr will be diverted from Dasna Bridge itself.

There is a huge crowd of devotees on these three routes.

Every year during the Kanwar Yatra, lakhs of devotees bring Ganga water from Haridwar and offer it in their respective Shiva temples. Kanwar pilgrims travel on three major routes passing through Ghaziabad district. For pedestrians, Pipeline Road from Loni Border to Niwari is the main route, while postal Kanwariyas traveling at a fast speed use the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. Apart from this, NH-34 i.e. GT Road is also a popular route.

Ganga Expressway: The journey from Uttar Pradesh to New Delhi will become much faster as soon as the Ganga Expressway opens in the country. Due to which people will get a lot of relief and will be able to complete their journey in less time.

The 594-km greenfield section will pass through 12 districts of Uttar Pradesh and will substantially reduce travel time in the national capital Delhi and its neighboring areas. The first phase of Ganga Expressway is underway. It will start from Judapur Dandu in Prayagraj district and provide seamless travel till Bijauli in Meerut district.

Explain that apart from Meerut and Prayagraj, this project will connect major cities of UP including Pratapgarh, Rae Bareli, Unnao, Hardoi, Shahjahanpur, Badaun, Sambhal, Amroha, Bulandshahr and Hapur. Expressway will also have main toll plazas in Meerut and Prayagraj.

The Ganga Expressway is being constructed afresh. It will open as a six-lane expressway. Depending on the future travel volume, it will have the potential to be expanded to eight lanes. Among the major features of the Ganga Expressway, Shahjahanpur will have a 3.5 kilometer long airstrip. The expressway will have two bridges crossing the rivers namely 960 meter bridge over river Ganga and 720 meter bridge over Ramganga.

Toll tax will have to be paid at 12 places

As per reports, the Ganga Expressway will have 12 more toll plazas apart from the source and destination toll plazas at Meerut and Prayagraj. The expressway from Meerut will be seamlessly connected to the nearby economic centers of the national capital Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad through the 96 km, 8-lane, controlled Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

Time will be saved from 3 to 5 hours

This expressway will also be connected to Yamuna Expressway, Agra-Lucknow Expressway and Purvanchal Expressway. Will reduce the distance from Eastern Uttar Pradesh to Delhi NCR from about 11-14 hours to 8-9 hours. The foundation stone of Ganga Expressway was laid in December 2021 and it is expected to be completed in 2024.
