According to the government, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) directed detailed testing of the aircraft’s fuel control switch locking mechanism at the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) facility in Seattle as part of continued airworthiness checks.

The minister said engineers conducted a comprehensive examination of the switch, including its locking detents and structural integrity.

Centre Pauses 60% Free Flight Seats Order After Airlines Object

Now the Ministry of Civil Aviation has made a sudden U-turn on passenger seating. Specifically, the government has put its “60% free seats” mandate on hold. Indeed, this decision comes just weeks before the new rule was set to start on April 20, 2026. Therefore, your favorite window or aisle seat might still carry a heavy price tag. In fact, airlines argued that the move would force them to spike ticket prices across the board.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Now even though the free seats are on hold, other passenger perks remain active. In fact, the ministry has cleared several other “facilitation measures” for your next trip.

What You Can Still Use

First, airlines must be fully transparent about all seat charges. Next, they must try to keep passengers on the same PNR seated together. Thus, families traveling together should find it easier to stay in one row. Furthermore, new rules for carrying musical instruments and pets will continue to apply. Moreover, sports equipment like cricket kits or golf bags now have clear carriage rules. Overall, the focus remains on making travel smoother without crashing the airline economy.

Will Airfares Go Up Regardless?

Now the cost of flying in April 2026 is already rising due to global events. Actually, the recent bridge collapses and strikes in the Middle East have disrupted many flight paths.

The Cost Drivers

First, longer flight paths mean more fuel consumption for every trip. Next, the high demand for summer travel is putting pressure on the few available planes. Thus, you might see a 15% to 20% hike in ticket prices this season. Additionally, the pause on free seats prevents a second “hidden” hike in base fares. Consequently, the government hopes this balance keeps flying affordable for the middle class. Therefore, booking your tickets at least 30 days in advance is still your best bet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I get a free seat during web check-in now?

Now, yes. You can still get a free seat if any of the “20% quota” seats are available. Thus, check in as early as possible.

Q: Did Akasa Air specifically oppose the 60% rule?

Actually, yes. They were one of the main voices saying it would hurt the low-cost carrier model. Therefore, the ministry took their feedback very seriously.

Q: Are middle seats free now?

Actually, most middle seats are still part of the paid selection on many airlines. Thus, the “auto-assign” feature at the airport remains your only guaranteed free option.

Q: When will the 60% order be reviewed again?

Since the ministry used the word “hold,” they might bring it back after fuel prices stabilize. Therefore, keep watching for updates later this year.

The Bottom Line

Now the pause on free flight seats is a win for airline stability but a small loss for passenger wallets. While we all love free perks, the risk of higher ticket prices was too great.

Overall, the government is trying to balance your comfort with the survival of the airline industry. Therefore, you should still budget for seat selection if you want that extra legroom. Thus, your travel planning for 2026 should remain flexible. Meanwhile, keep checking our blog for more aviation and travel news. Lastly, enjoy your flight and stay safe.

Power banks are a travel lifesaver. The thing is, they are essentially tiny boxes of volatile energy.

Actually, aviation authorities like India’s DGCA are currently tightening the screws on how we carry them. Specifically, following several fire scares—including a recent one on an IndiGo flight—regulators are moving toward stricter enforcement.

As a result, being unaware of the rules could mean your expensive charger ends up in a security bin. Consequently, you need to treat these gadgets with the same caution as any other hazardous material (let’s be real, nobody wants a fire at 30,000 feet).

And here’s the kicker. Your phone and laptop have built-in safety circuits, but that cheap power bank might not.

Basically, the risk is “thermal runaway.” Instead of a slow battery drain, a damaged or poor-quality cell can enter a self-heating loop. In fact, it can lead to toxic fumes or an actual explosion. And then Y followed. This is why airlines are obsessed with where you pack them.

You decided to fly with your dog or cat for the first time, realizing the logistics feel totally overwhelming. Every airline seems to have a different rule on weight, carrier size, and where your furry companion can actually sit—so you need a master checklist, or nothing.

Let’s be real. Flying with pets in India is totally doable, but it takes planning. It’s not a last-minute ticket purchase.

Also Read | Best Bank in India: Bank of Baroda Wins Top Award

The Breakdown: Cabin vs. Cargo

The thing is, the decision between the cabin and cargo is purely about weight, and the limits are strict.

In the Cabin: Only small pets, puppies, and kittens are allowed. The rules vary, but they’re tight. Air India recently updated its rule to allow pets up to 10 kg (including the carrier) in the cabin. Akasa Air also permits up to 10 kg in the cabin. Your carrier must be soft-sided and fit right under the seat, those too.

The Cargo Hold: If your pet is heavier than the cabin limit, they go in the temperature-controlled cargo hold, which is now generally mandatory on IndiGo flights for pets (except service dogs). You must use a hard-sided, sturdy crate that meets IATA standards for this.

And here’s the kicker: Some airlines have breed restrictions. Short-muzzled dogs and cats—the brachycephalic breeds like Pugs or Persian cats—often cannot fly in the cargo hold at all because of breathing risks at high altitudes. You have to check that specific rule before you book, seriously.

The Paperwork Game

Forget packing treats; the most important thing is the stack of documents.

Health Certificate: A vet visit is mandatory, and you need a “fitness-to-fly” certificate issued within 10 days of your travel date. No exceptions.

Records: Updated vaccination records, especially rabies, are crucial. Keep the originals handy.

The ID: Your pet needs a visible ID tag on their collar with your contact details, those too. Bring recent photos of your pet, just in case.

Day-of-Travel Tips

DGCA: DGCA informed in the press release that proper steps are being taken to ensure that air passengers do not face any problems after this merger.

DGCA: Aviation regulator DGCA today approved the merger of AIX Connect with Air India Express. These aviation companies are part of the Tata Group and will also pave the way for the merger of Air India and Vistara in the future, for which some proposal-based processes are underway. From October 1, 2024, all airplanes of AIX Connect have been transferred to AIX’s Air Operator Certificate (AOC).

Big news for Tata Group

Activities for this merger with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation were going on for a long time and today with its approval, the empire of Tata Group in the aviation sector is going to become even bigger.

On 23 July, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) cleared the way for a big merger. In this way, the merger of AIX Connect with Air India Express has been completed. After this merger, a unified brand has been formed. This process was going on for several months and many types of mergers were done under this integration process. These mainly included an alliance between the two for human resources i.e. HR and flight network operations. Aviation regulator DGCA said on Tuesday that the merger of AIX Connect with Air India Express has been completed.

DGCA gave information in the press release

DGCA informed in a press release that smooth steps are being taken to ensure that air passengers do not face any problems after this merger. Flight operations in this joint unit airline will continue without any problems. All measures are being taken to ensure that passengers get a safe and comfortable air travel.

Air Taxi: Two to three decades ago, the common man used to travel by train, bus and auto. After this, metro came in many cities. However, the first metro train in India ran in Kolkata. Kolkata Metro was started on October 24, 1984.

It was India’s first underground metro system. Now the day is not far when the dream of traveling by air taxi will come true. Yes, a new chapter is going to be written in the field of transportation. Civil aviation regulator, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has recently approved the guidelines for the construction of vertiports.

There will be less traffic problem in big cities

It is being told that air taxis are expected to start in some big cities only. If this happens, then the air taxi service will reduce the traffic problem in big cities to some extent. Along with this, passengers will experience easy and fast travel. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also constantly saying that the country is getting ready for advanced air transport. He says that air travel in the country should be safe for the people and available at affordable rates.

Air taxis will start in some cities

In the first phase, the air taxi service will be started in Delhi, and after that it will be expanded to major metros like Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. Through these services, passengers will get state-of-the-art air transport facility, which will help in covering the distance between cities in less time. This service will be an important step towards reducing the pressure of urban traffic and making the travel experience fast and convenient.

Know how much will be the fare and speed?

According to media reports, under the air taxi service, the journey from Connaught Place in New Delhi to Gurugram can be done in just 7 minutes. This service will be provided through Archer Aviation’s 200 electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. Initially, a total of five people including the pilot will be able to travel in it. InterGlobe Aviation and Archer Aviation intend to start their services in Mumbai and Bengaluru along with New Delhi. The fare of the service can be between Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000.

DGCA issues guidelines for construction of vertiports

The DGCA has approved guidelines for the construction of vertiports, which is a major step for air taxi services. Vertiports are specially designed for vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) and are small airports that are required to operate air taxi services.

The new guidelines cover the following points:

Charging stations: Vertiports will have suitable charging stations for electric air taxis.

Parking facilities: Dedicated space and facilities will be ensured for parking of aircraft.

Emergency services: Medical and other security services will be made available for emergencies.

Operational aspects: Vertiports will be designed in such a way that the travel experience is safe and comfortable.

The implementation of these guidelines will improve the quality and safety standards of vertiports, making the operation of air taxi services more convenient and efficient.

The biggest problem of metro cities is traffic jam. Hours of time are wasted in this and we wish that there is a vehicle in front of us that can fly and we can cross this traffic and get past it.

The time for your dream to come true is now very close because DGCA has given the green signal to Vertiports Rules and has issued guidelines for vertical takeoff and landing.

DGCA has issued guidelines regarding Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL). DGCA’s initiative is in line with global efforts to standardize Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing (EVTOL) certification. This is an important step to enable eVTOL operations in India. Currently VCA is powered by the electric system. This important step aims to streamline the certification process and ensure the safety and reliability of emerging EVTOL technologies in India.

This circular of DGCA has been issued after consultation with all stakeholders. This circular provides comprehensive safety requirements on design, manufacturing, structural strength, flight performance, equipment, power plant installation, flight crew interface and other information required for type certification of eVTOL aircraft. The eVTOL/AAM sector is evolving rapidly. Further changes in the proposed requirements are expected. This move is an important step towards the widespread implementation of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in India.

Let us tell you that last week, DGCA had issued an advisory circular on vertiports used by eVTOL. According to this, vertiports will be built on the lines of airports for air taxis. These vertiports will be designed in such a way that air taxis can do vertical take off and landing (VTOL) from here.

It will start from the capital Delhi

The first attempt to launch air taxi has been made by InterGlobe Enterprises, the parent company of the country’s largest airline IndiGo. According to the information, there is a plan to start Air Taxi from the country’s capital Delhi. After this, air taxi will be delivered to cities like Mumbai and Bangalore.

According to the rules, guidelines have been set for infrastructure, air taxi operational guidelines, battery charging, parking, landing and emergency response for vertiport. Vertiport will be given clearance only after following these rules.

Vertiports Rules: While getting stuck on the crowded roads of the city, it definitely comes to all of us at least once that how good it would have been if we could reach our destination by flying.

So now have a little patience because your dream is going to be fulfilled very soon. Soon the facility of air taxi is going to come in metro cities like Delhi and Mumbai. Aviation sector regulator DGCA has given the green signal to the Vertiports Rules. After this, it is being estimated that air taxis will start running in the country from the year 2026.

Green signal given to the rules for building vertiport for air taxi

According to the rules of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, vertiports will be built for these air taxis. These vertiports will be designed in such a way that air taxis can do vertical take off and landing (VTOL) from here. These vertiports will be built on the lines of airports.

IndiGo signs deal with Archer Aviation for 200 Midnight aircraft

The first attempt to launch an air taxi has been made by InterGlobe Enterprises, the parent company of the country’s largest airline IndiGo. It has signed an agreement with California-based company Archer Aviation to acquire their VTOL aircraft Midnight. Archer Aviation is an electric air taxi manufacturer.

Fog is affecting trains and flights. Trains are running late by several hours, many flights are also flying late and some are even having to be diverted. In such a situation, if you are missing your connecting flight or want to cancel your flight due to delay, can you get a refund? Similarly, if the train is running very late and the purpose for which you want to go is not being fulfilled, then can you get a full refund by canceling the ticket? Let’s know what are the rules?

If the airlines company cancels the flight due to fog or other reasons, then the company itself will give compensation. In this matter you will not need to complain anywhere. According to DGCA, if you have paid in cash then the airline will have to refund immediately. Apart from this, if payment is made through credit card, the money will have to be returned within 7 days. The refund includes passenger service fee, airport development fee and service tax. You have the option to get the money refunded or travel on another date.

At the same time, if a flight is late by more than 3 hours. You can visit respective airlines’ site

Indigo – https://www.goindigo.in/travel-information/en/flight-delays-cancellations.html
Air India – https://www.airindia.com/in/en/manage/request -refund.html SpiceJet – You can request ticket cancellation by visiting https://changes.spicejet.com/index.html#/ .
If airlines companies harass you regarding ticket refund, you can complain by visiting DGCA site https://www.dgca.gov.in/digigov-portal/. The matter will be settled as per DGCA rules. You may get compensation for this.

At the same time, if you have a connecting flight from Delhi and due to fog your flight gets delayed or diverted to Delhi and in such a situation you miss your flight, then can you get compensation? In this regard, VP Aggarwal, former chairman of Airport Authority of India, says that if the airline from which you are coming and the connecting flight is of the same company, then adjustment can be made in the other flight. But if the connecting flight is of another company then you will not be entitled to compensation. This is written in the conditions.

You can also take full refund of train ticket

According to Railways, if due to any reason the train is canceled or is running late by 3 hours or more, then the passenger can take full refund. Railways gives full refund to the passengers in case of cancellation of tickets due to cancellation of trains or excessive delay. If you have taken the ticket from the counter, then to cancel it you have to go to the reservation counter. If you have booked your ticket online, visit IRCTC website https://www.operations.irctc.co.in/ctcan/SystemTktCanLogin.jsf
You can cancel the ticket through. If any kind of problem arises, you can also complain on this Twitter handle https://twitter.com/irctcofficial?lang=en.

GoFirst tweeted a while back saying that we are sorry to inform that GoFirst flights scheduled till July 27, 2023 have been canceled due to operational reasons. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the flight cancellation.

The airlines also said in the tweet that the company has filed an application for immediate resolution and commencement of operations. We will be able to start booking again soon. we thank you for your patience

DGCA has given permission to fly

Recently, on Friday, July 21, Go First has been allowed by the aviation regulator DGCA to fly with conditions. However, despite this, GoFirst’s repeated postponement of its flight operations is an indication that all is not well for the company. Significantly, the insolvency resolution process is going on against Go First. The company had stopped its airlines from May 3.

The DGCA said that the plan submitted by GoFirst to resume operations on June 26 has been studied and accepted by the regulator. DGCA said that GoFirst can start flight operations again with conditions.

DGCA said in these conditions that for this it is very important for airlines to have Air Operator Certificate at all times. Also, the aircraft used in the operation should be in a better condition to fly. No aircraft should be used in operation without a handling flight.

Airfares Prices: If you travel by flight from one city to another, then this news is useful for you. Yes, in the past, there was a huge increase in the flight fares.

But now the average air fare has come down on 10 domestic routes including Delhi-Srinagar. This trend in flight fares is likely to continue in the coming weeks as well. This information has come out from the data collected by DGCA.

Huge hike in air fares on select routes

Let us tell you that after the GoFirst crisis, there was a huge increase in air fares on select routes in the last few weeks. This situation was created due to the shortage of aircraft and the closure of operations on behalf of GoFirst, which was going through a financial crisis.

After this, on June 6, the Ministry of Civil Aviation asked the aviation companies to keep the price of air tickets at a reasonable level. However, an analysis of airfares on a week-on-week basis till July 13 shows that average airfares have declined on some routes.
The data has been collected by the fare monitoring unit of DGCA. A decline has been registered in the airfares of these 10 routes-

Delhi-Srinagar
Srinagar-Delhi
Delhi-Leh
Leh-Delhi
Mumbai-Delhi
Delhi-Mumbai
Delhi-Pune
Pune-Delhi
Ahmedabad-Delhi
Delhi-Ahmedabad.

Ministry sources said that except the Mumbai-Delhi route, there has been a decline in the average airfares on these routes. A jump in airfares has been seen in the last month on the routes operated by GoFirst. GoFirst flights have been closed since May 3. During a meeting chaired by Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on June 5, representatives of airline companies were asked to control fares.

The post Flight Fare reduced: Good news for air passengers, reduced fare on these routes, big information revealed first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.

For this, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken a big decision on Monday. After this decision, companies like Indigo, Air India, Vistara and Akasa Air will be able to start flights to new cities of the world and air passengers will get direct benefit.

DGCA has said in an order issued on June 12 that Indian companies will be given huge relaxation in rules to start flying to new international destinations. With the easing of rules, it will be much easier for domestic airlines to reach foreign cities. DGCA reviews the preparedness of companies before starting flights to any new international destination and they are allowed to start flights only after they are fit on all scales.

What has changed

According to the statement issued by DGCA, the standards set for Indian companies have been relaxed. Now, instead of 33, their standard will be judged only on 10 points. This means that Indian airlines will now meet only 10 standards instead of 33, then they will get a chance to start flights to new international destinations. DGCA has said in its notification that this decision has been taken at a time when Indian airlines are increasing their reach in foreign cities.

Indigo will start flights to 6 places

Indian airlines Air India, Vistara, Indigo, Akasa Air are preparing to increase international operations. Indigo has even announced to start its new flights in Africa and Central Asian countries. In August, the company will start new flights. Similarly, Air India is also preparing to start new flights to Europe, West Asian countries and America. Akasa Air has also decided to start flights to many new international destinations by December.

The post Good news for air travelers!

Airfare Hike in India: GoFirst had canceled all its flights on 3rd May due to bad financial situation. In such a situation, people are facing a lot of trouble during the summer vacation season.

The spot air fare has increased manifold on many routes. According to media report , the data of different travel portals has shown that even after the efforts of DGCA, passengers on many routes have to pay huge airfares.

Air fare became costlier by 30 to 40 percent

The director of Federation of Association in Indian Tourism and Hospitality (FAITH) said that for the next few days, passengers are not going to get any relief in air fares. It is worth noting that the current air fare has become costlier by 30 to 40 percent as compared to before the Corona period. In such a situation, people will have to loose more pockets to travel on many routes during the summer holidays.

Go first crisis increased the trouble

Significantly, the airlines company Go First Crisis, which is going through bad financial conditions, had applied to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on 2 May for bankruptcy. After this, the company stopped operating flights of all its routes from 3 May.

Passengers are unable to get flights on many routes due to the cancellation of more than 300 flights in the last one month by the company providing cheap air services. On the other hand, the air fare on these routes is skyrocketing. Because of this it is affecting other airlines as well.

The highest airfare increased on these routes-

Delhi-Mumbai, Srinagar-Delhi, Mumbai-Goa, Patna-Delhi, Delhi-Pune, Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Bengaluru-Mumbai, Delhi-Leh, Delhi-Ahmedabad and Mumbai-Chandigarh routes to be operated by GoFirst in 2022 but, has been done. In such a situation, the maximum increase in air fare has been seen on these routes only. According to the data of the online portal, 337.5 percent of the airfares on the Delhi-Ahmedabad route, 201.9 percent on the Delhi-Pune route, 94.8 percent on the Kolkata-Ahmedabad route, 84.2 percent on the Kolkata-Bengaluru route, 32.2 percent on the Delhi-Srinagar route, Delhi- Leh route is registering an increase of 18.6 per cent and Bengaluru-Mumbai route 8.3 per cent.

After the intervention of the government, these routes got some relief

Air India and Indigo are trying to increase the number of their flights on many demand routes like Delhi, Goa, Ahmedabad, Pune. Due to this, there will be some reduction in air fare on these routes. At the same time, the government had also recently asked the airlines companies to increase the air fares in a restrained manner. After the intervention of the government, a drop of 10 to 15 percent in airfares has been registered in some routes. Air fare has been reduced by 10 percent on the Delhi-Leh route, 11 percent on the Delhi-Srinagar route, 12 percent on the Mumbai-Srinagar route and 12 percent on the Delhi-Pune route.

The post Air fare Increased!

Go First Flights Cancelled: India’s aviation sector suffered a major setback when Go First, the airlines providing cheap flight services in the country, applied to declare itself bankrupt.

The company had canceled all its flights since the application to declare itself bankrupt on 3 May in the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). Now a big news is coming about this airline. Troubled GoFirst has canceled all its flights till June 7, 2023. Earlier, the company had decided to cancel the flights till June 4, which has now been extended further.

Go First gave information by tweeting

Go First has expressed regret while sharing information about this on its Twitter handle on Friday. The company said that due to operational reasons, the company has decided to cancel its flights. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to the passengers. Along with this, while giving information about the refund, the company said that the airlines will soon return their refund to all the passengers. Along with this, the company also said that it will soon start the process of booking its flights.

Six months plan placed in front of DGCA

According to the report published in Financial Express, GoFirst has presented a 6-month revival plan to the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on 2 June. The Interim Resolution Professional (IRP) has presented this plan to the DGCA. According to the report, the airline is planning to start its operation soon with 26 aircraft.

How did GoFirst’s financial troubles begin?

Go First Air continues to provide cheap air service in the country. The company had applied before the NCLT on 3 May to declare itself bankrupt. Along with this, the airlines had accused Pratt & Whitney, the American company providing the lease, that the airlines had suffered huge losses due to its bad engine. Responding to these allegations, Pratt & Whitney had said that all the allegations of GoFirst were baseless and said that GoFirst has an old history of non-repayment of loans. DGCA and NCLT are constantly trying to restart the operation of Go First.

The post Flights Cancelled: Attention Go First passengers!

Guidelines for Air Passengers: If you also travel by flight then there is important news for you. DGCA has issued a new instruction regarding air travel. In view of the increasing new cases of corona across the country, these Covid guidelines have been issued for the travelers.

If air passengers do not follow the prescribed Covid guidelines, then airlines can throw you out of the flight. Let’s know the new instructions.

Information given by the department

According to the directive issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for airlines and airports on Wednesday, passengers must wear masks at all stages of their journey. In fact, in view of the increase in COVID-19 cases, airlines have been advised to ensure that. The ministry has said in its order, ‘The airlines will ensure that all passengers wear face masks properly and continue to wear them throughout the journey.’

Mandatory to follow instructions

In view of the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases, the DGCA said that the airlines have again been advised to strictly follow the COVID-19 protocol inside the aircraft. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday directed all airlines to ensure that passengers are properly wearing masks during travel and proper sensitization of passengers through various platforms. If any passenger does not follow the instructions, strict action will be taken against the passenger by the airline.

Why did the department take the decision?

Giving information on this, a senior DGCA official said that the cases of Kovid are increasing continuously in the country, in view of which the department has taken this decision. “We will follow up with random checks and stern action will be taken against the stakeholders concerned in case of violations,” he said. According to the official, masks can be removed in exceptional circumstances and only for permissible reasons, the DGCA had issued such instructions earlier in June as well.

The post Guidelines for Air Passengers!
