Digital Payment UPI: There is good news for India. India has become the country with the highest online transactions in the world. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has released its report. In the report ‘Growing Retail Digital Payments: The Value of Interoperability’, it was told that India has made rapid progress in digital payments. More than 18 billion transactions take place every month in India through the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) alone.

UPI is also beneficial in these countries

UPI is providing facilities to people not only in India but also across the border. This facility is already available in 7 countries including UAE, Singapore, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, France and Mauritius. Now it has entered France as well. Indians travelling or living there get the facility of payment without any hassle of foreign transactions.

32 percent increase in one year
The report said that in June this year, 18.39 billion transactions were done through UPI in India. Whereas in June last year this figure was only 13.88 billion. UPI payments have increased by about 32 percent in one year. The UPI system now serves 491 million individuals and 65 million businessmen. This system connects 675 banks on a single platform. UPI contributes 85 percent of all digital transactions in India. It covers about 50 percent of international real-time digital payments.

What is UPI system?
The National Payments Corporation of India launched the Unified Payment Interface (UPI) in the year 2016. The bank of the user has worked to bring one or more bank accounts on a single mobile app. Through this, you can transfer money to the shop or to friends with just a single click without going to the bank or internet cafe. More than 18 billion transactions take place in India every month. This facility has reduced card and cash payments considerably.

UPI Payment Limit Extend: As the trend of digital payment has increased rapidly in the country, the needs of the people are also increasing at the same pace. Especially for those who do big transactions every day. But due to the daily limit of Rs 1 lakh of UPI (UPI Payment Limit), they have to face many problems.

In such a situation, the question arises whether the daily limit of UPI can be increased. If yes, then how? And when can it be increased? What are the rules of banks and UPI apps for this? And who provides the facility to increase the limit?

What is the limit in UPI?

Through UPI, you can transfer up to 1 lakh rupees in a day. This limit depends on banks and UPI apps, such as BHIM, Gpay, PhonePe or Paytm. However, most apps give a limit of up to one lakh rupees. But this depends on the bank and UPI, which you can increase later.

How to increase limit in UPI?

To increase the UPI limit, you have to fulfill some simple conditions. The bank looks at your transaction history, account activity, KYC status and account opening date. If your account is good and active, then the chances of increasing the limit are higher.

BHIM App: This app follows NPCI rules. But in this you may have to check the policy of the bank.

Google Pay: In this, you have to add a bank account that supports higher payment limit. For this, you have to do KYC.

PhonePe: Through this app you can request to increase the limit. Or you will have to update the linked account.

Paytm: For this, you must be verified. After which you can request to increase the limit by clicking on “Manage Bank Accounts” in the app.

So should everyone increase the limit?

The question arises whether one should increase the limit first? Actually, increasing the limit is as beneficial as it increases the risks. Suppose your phone falls, gets stolen or some fraud happens with you, then your account can get emptied in a moment.

Because UPI payment is done in one click, which cannot be withdrawn. So increase the limit only when you need it. However, with increasing the limit, you also have to take care of security. Keep your phone and app locked with UPI PIN, so that you can avoid fraud.

Digital payment has now become a part of our daily life. In India, online payment is being done everywhere from tea to taxi. To make this digital revolution easier, PhonePe has launched a great feature which is especially for those who do not have a bank account or who do not use internet banking.

What is PhonePe’s new UPI Circle feature? PhonePe has launched a feature called UPI Circle
for its crores of users . Through this feature, you can now make payments even for those who do not have their own bank account. This means that now you will be able to make UPI payments for your family or friends even if they do not have a bank account.

How will this new feature work?

To use this feature, first you have to add the member for whom you want to make payment to your PhonePe account. When that member scans the QR code at a shop, the payment request will come directly to you. Then you can make his payment from your account. In this way, he can become a part of digital payment even without a bank account.

NPCI removed the biggest hurdle

The credit for launching this feature goes to NPCI i.e. National Payments Corporation of India. Earlier this feature was limited to Google Pay only but now it has been implemented on PhonePe as well. PhonePe gave this information through its official X (earlier Twitter) handle.

Who will get the most benefit?

This feature will be especially beneficial for the elderly, people living in rural areas and those families whose members know how to use a smartphone but are not connected with banking. Now their children or relatives can make payments for them and they can also make purchases by scanning the QR code.

How to add members and make payment?

First, update your PhonePe app

Go to the app and click on the UPI Circle feature

Add the person you want to pay for as a member

When that person makes a payment at a shop, you will receive a request

You can make payment from your bank account

Another step towards Digital India

This new feature of PhonePe is another big step towards Digital India. This will benefit crores of people of the country who were not able to connect with digital payments till now. Those who were left behind due to not having a bank account, now do not need to depend on anyone.

Caution is also important

Although this feature is very beneficial, it is also important to be cautious while using it. Before making payment on any request, check that it is from a trustworthy person. Also, keep the limit and security settings of the payment request active so that there is no problem.

UPI: There was a time when people used to be afraid of the name of digital payment. However, after the arrival of UPI in the country, there has been a big revolution in the field of digital payment.

Crores of UPI transactions are happening every day. UPI has made the transaction system very easy. You can easily make payment by just scanning the QR code at the shops. Today, from a small shopkeeper to big e-commerce companies are connected to the UPI network. UPI has been developed by NPCI. It is a real time payment system. You do not have to pay any kind of fee for making transactions through UPI.

Most of us use UPI for transactions. However, many times in a hurry or carelessness while making transactions, people transfer money to the wrong account through UPI. If you have also transferred money to the wrong person’s account through UPI, then you do not need to worry.

According to RBI guidelines, if you have transferred money to the wrong account, then that money can be refunded to your account within 48 hours.

QR Code Payment: The government is continuously making efforts to make the National Pension System convenient. After the success of QR code payment, now the government has decided to bring it in the NPS system. Investors will now be able to deposit money in NPS fund through Quick Response Code (QR Code).

QR codes can also be created offline

According to Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA), after the facility of payment through QR code, now people will be able to easily deposit money in their NPS account sitting at home. These QR codes can also be created offline in Tier-1 and 2 accounts so that payments can be made through them in future.

PFRDA wants to connect more and more people

PFRDA wants to add more and more people to NPS. Digital payment has played a great role in this scheme. Therefore, with the introduction of the facility of payment through QR code for digital payment, it will become more convenient for the investors.

Retirement savings can be easily controlled

Amit Sinha, Group Head (Social Security and Welfare) of Proteus eGov Technologies Limited (NSDL E Governance Infrastructure Limited) said that providing the facility of payment through QR code is an encouraging step. This will make it easier to transfer money to NPS. With this initiative of PFRDA, those running NPS accounts will be able to easily control their retirement savings. You will also be able to increase your capital.

Rs 2700 crore came into NPS through de-remit/virtual ID

At present, NPS subscribers can make payments using the de-remit facility from their bank accounts. D-Remit ID is 15 digits long. It has to be added to the beneficiary of the bank account using internet banking. After this, money can be transferred from the savings bank account to the NPS account. According to PFRDA, around 10 lakh D-Remit IDs have been created so far. About Rs 2700 crore has come to NPS through these IDs. If the bank receives the de-remit by 9.30 am on a working day, then it invests it in the NPS account on the same day.

To avail the facility D-Remit/Virtual ID must be created

Now de-remits can also be made through QR code. However, the facility of investment through QR code will be available only to those whose de-remit/virtual ID has been created.

Day by day complaints regarding digital payment are increasing. The easier this process of payment is, the more the number of frauds that result from it. In the last one year, RBI has registered about four lakh complaints related to this.

If you also use digital methods for payment, then you need to be a little careful. The easier digital payment makes payment, the more errors are being found in it. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has observed a 9.39 per cent increase in the volume of complaints with various digital payment methods from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. Under the Ombudsman Schemes or Consumer Education and Protection Cell, 4,18,184 complaints have been received in a year.

The figures are scary

Talking about digital payment complaints, 149,419 complaints were registered in 2021, of which the Centralized Receipt and Processing Center (CRPC) disposed of 143,552 by the end of March 31, 2022. The disposal rate of complaints by RBIOS increased to 97.97 per cent in 2021-22 from 96.59 per cent in 2020-21.

Highest transaction happened in July

For information, let us tell you that the maximum number of UPI transactions took place in July 2022. According to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) report, in July last year, the UPI transactions crossed 6 billion i.e. 600 crores, which is a record level. However, after the increase in its use, the number of frauds has also increased.

Digital Rupee has also started

RBI has introduced Digital Rupee as a form of digital payment only last year. This Central Bank Digital Currency has been brought in the form of CBDC-W (wholesale) and CBDC-R (retail). It is a kind of digital currency which can be used for payments through UPI, NEFT, RTGS, IMPS, Debit/Credit cards etc.

India is rapidly moving towards digital payments. RBI and National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) are easing rules to ease the way for digital payments.

For which Aadhaar based UPI payment service has been allowed. After the relaxation from RBI and NPCI, PhonePe has started a new Aadhaar based OTP service, through which UPI can be activated.

PhonePe becomes the first Aadhaar based UPI

PhonePe claims that it is the world’s first platform with Aadhaar based UPI service. The company claims that after the Aadhaar based UPI service, the number of new users making online payments will increase. Let us tell you that till now Debit card was required to use UPI service. But after Aadhaar based authentication, the hassle of Debit card will be over.

It is worth noting that a large population of the country does not have a debit card, who are not able to use the UPI service. Aadhaar based UPI service can prove to be very beneficial for such people.

How customers will benefit

In the current model of UPI, a Debit Card is required for the UPI PIN during the UPI registration process for each and every user. But as it is known that there are a large number of bank account holders who do not have debit cards. For these, Aadhaar based e-KYC can be done through the new service of PhonePe.

For this, you have to enter the 6 digit number of Aadhaar on the PhonePe App. After this you will receive OTP from UIDAI. After this your bank will complete the authentication process. After this, users will be able to do all the services of UPI payment such as payment check and bank balance check.
