<p data-path-to-node="3"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">If you live in Delhi, you should prepare for a very difficult week ahead. The <a href="https://djb.gov.in/">Delhi Jal Board (DJB)</a> just confirmed that a major water crisis will grip the city until <b data-path-to-node="3" data-index-in-node="166">February 4, 2026</b>. High ammonia levels in the Yamuna river have forced the city&#8217;s main treatment plants to slash their output. Because the water has become untreatable, many neighborhoods will face empty tanks or very low pressure.</span></p>

<h3 data-path-to-node="4"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b data-path-to-node="4" data-index-in-node="0">Pollution and Repairs Create a &#8220;Double Whammy&#8221;</b></span></h3>
<p data-path-to-node="5"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The crisis started when ammonia levels in the river spiked to over <b data-path-to-node="5" data-index-in-node="67">3 ppm</b>. Usually, our local plants can only handle a fraction of that amount. To solve this, the DJB normally uses fresh water from the Munak Canal to dilute the poison. However, Haryana is currently repairing that canal. Since the city cannot access that clean water, the &#8220;toxic soup&#8221; in the Yamuna has forced plants like Wazirabad and Dwarka to run at 75% capacity or shut down entirely.</span></p>
<h3 data-path-to-node="6"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b data-path-to-node="6" data-index-in-node="0">Is Your Neighborhood on the Hit List?</b></span></h3>
<p data-path-to-node="7"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">This shortage hits North, West, and Central Delhi the hardest. Residents in <b data-path-to-node="7" data-index-in-node="76">Dwarka, Janakpuri, and Rohini</b> already report dry taps. Even the VVIP areas in the Lutyens’ zone face a 50% cut in daily supply. In North Delhi, some families claim the water smells like strong household chemicals. If you notice a &#8220;bleach-like&#8221; scent in your tap water, avoid drinking it until the levels normalize.</span></p>
<h3 data-path-to-node="8"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b data-path-to-node="8" data-index-in-node="0">How to Get Water Now</b></span></h3>
<p data-path-to-node="9"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">You must act quickly to manage your remaining supply.</span></p>
<ul data-path-to-node="10">

The government has already deployed 600 GPS-tracked tankers to help the driest zones.</span></p>

<p data-path-to-node="10,2,0"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><b data-path-to-node="10,2,0" data-index-in-node="0">Check the mSewa App:</b> Use the official app to see the exact supply timings for your specific street.</span></p>
</li>
</ul>
<p data-path-to-node="11"><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">The government expects the situation to improve only after the canal repairs finish next month. Until then, every drop counts&#8230;.<img decoding="async" class="alignnone  wp-image-50168" src="https://www.rightsofemployees.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/images-9-1.png" alt="" width="17" height="17" srcset="https://www.rightsofemployees.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/images-9-1.png 224w, https://www.rightsofemployees.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/images-9-1-150x150.png 150w" sizes="(max-width: 17px) 100vw, 17px" /></span></p>
