Passports and driving licenses can be cancelled for breaking the rules. Meerut Superintendent of Police (city) Ayush Vikram Singh said that Eid namaz should be offered in local mosques or designated Eidgahs and no one should offer namaz on the streets.

What did Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary say

Union minister and Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Jayant Singh Chaudhary said, “If individuals have criminal cases registered against them, their passports and licenses can be cancelled and it will be difficult to get a new passport without an NOC from the court. Such documents will remain seized until the person is acquitted by the court.” Meerut Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vipin Tada said that meetings have been held at both the district and police station levels and necessary instructions have been issued based on discussions with all parties.

A close watch on social media too

The SSP said, “Strict action will be taken against those who try to spread rumours or incite unrest through social media. We are keeping a close watch on social media platforms and any attempt to disturb communal harmony will be dealt with strictly.” SSP Tada said that PAC and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel have been deployed to strengthen security and flag marches are being conducted in the district.

Deployment of drones in sensitive areas

Based on past experiences, sensitive areas have been identified and special arrangements have been made there. SSP Tada also stressed that the administration is working to coordinate with prominent citizens and religious leaders to maintain peace and smoothly celebrate the upcoming festivals. Jayant Singh Choudhary said that drones will be deployed for surveillance to ensure law and order.

Meerut police issued a warning

Local intelligence teams are actively monitoring the situation. He said uniformed and plainclothes police officers will also be deployed at all sensitive locations. Meerut police have warned that individuals violating the order may have their passports and driving licences cancelled, and a no objection certificate (NOC) from the court will be required to obtain a new passport.

Similarly, the stock market will remain closed from 29 to 31 March. 29 March is Saturday and 30 March is Sunday. There is a holiday on Eid-ul-Fitr on 31 March.
