At present, many trains of the railways are running late by hours during the fog. But if the trains are delayed by more than this amount, then you are given a full refund. Know what are the rules regarding this.

If the train is delayed for more than three hours, you will get a full refund

Winter has arrived in India. There is a lot of fog in many places during winter. Especially, there is a lot of fog in North India. Due to this, many trains of Indian Railways get delayed by many hours. But if the train is very late due to fog, then you will get a full refund. According to the rules of Indian Railways, if a train is delayed by 3 hours or more, then you are given a full refund on cancelling the train ticket. Passengers have to file TDR for that. Then they get a full refund of the ticket.

How to file TDR?

If you are going somewhere in this cold weather. And due to fog your train is delayed by more than 3 hours. So if you want, you can cancel it and get a full refund. For this you will have to file TDR. To file TDR, if you have booked a ticket online. Then you will have to login to your IRCTC ID.

After this, you will have to go to the Services tab and select File Ticket Deposit Receipt i.e. TDR. After this, you will have to go to My Transactions and click on the option of File TDR. After this, your claim request will go to the Railways. And the money will be refunded to the same account from which you had booked the ticket.

Refund will be available both online and offline

If your train is late by more than 3 hours, you can claim for refund through both online and offline means. If you have taken a ticket from the counter, you will have to surrender your ticket at your boarding station for refund. People who book tickets online can get refund on e-tickets by filing TDR. It takes about 3 months.

You can file TDR like this

  • Go to the official website of IRCTC, Irctc.co.in.
  • Log in with your user ID and password.
  • Click on “File Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR)” in the ‘Services’ tab.
  • Click on File TDR link in the left panel under My Transactions tab.
  • After this the TDR claim request will be sent to the concerned Railway for processing the refund.
  • After this, the ticket money will be refunded within a maximum of 3 months.
  • Money will be refunded in the same account through which the ticket was paid.
  • No refund will be given on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal ticket.

In case of train cancellation

If a train is canceled by the Railways, the refund money is returned within 3-7 days through the automatic refund process. This facility is available for passengers who book tickets online. People who book tickets offline have to take refund from the PRS counter. For this, you have to surrender your ticket and apply for refund within 3 days of the departure of the train.
