Traveling in Namo India, the country’s first rapid rail, will become easier. In fact, National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has started the facility of “One-Tap Ticketing” through ‘RRTS Connect’ mobile app, which is the first such facility of its kind in the world.

This feature will give passengers the freedom to generate QR code for travel on the RRTS Connect app with just a single tap, from anywhere within a 300 meter radius of the RRTS station premises. According to news agency IANS, with the help of this feature, the passenger neither needs to write the destination in the app nor book an advance ticket for the journey to generate a QR code to reach his destination.

Just by clicking on One Tap Booking in the app, QR ticket will be generated for the journey. This initiative will provide ease of travel to the passengers and passengers will also be able to change their destination without any dilemma during the journey.

Neither the departure station nor the destination station is required to be selected. There
will be no need to select either the departure station nor the destination station in the app to generate the digital QR code in the process of purchasing tickets through the one-tap booking facility.

Typically any such app requires departure and destination selection at the beginning of the journey, so the destination cannot be changed during the journey. To avail this facility, passengers will have to link their e-wallet to the mobile application and it will be mandatory to keep a minimum amount in the e-wallet, which will be only Rs 100 .

Along with this, passengers will have to activate the location services of their mobile phones while using this app. With the help of QR code, passengers will be able to enter the RRTS station by scanning the QR code and end their journey by scanning the same QR code at any station on the corridor.

The prescribed amount will be automatically deducted from the e-wallet at the time of exit from the AFC gate of the destination station for the journey undertaken by the passenger through QR code scan.

Rapid Rail was started on October 20.

The 17 km long priority section of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor between Sahibabad and Duhai depot is now operational for the people. There are 5 stations in this section, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot.

Last month, on October 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off India’s first NaMo Bharat trains and inaugurated India’s first RRTS corridor. The target is to operate the entire 82 km long corridor from Delhi to Meerut by June 2025.

The country’s first rapid rail is expected to start next month. The construction of the 82 km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) corridor is in full swing. The first rapid rail will run on the 17 km long section between Sahibabad and Duhai.

RRTS stations are being built in such a way that passengers can take other means of transport without leaving the station. Four stations of the Delhi-Meerut route are being connected to all the nearby metro stations. In such a situation, passengers will be able to go to the nearest metro station without coming out of RRTS stations.

Apart from Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor, Delhi-Gurgaon-SNB-Alwar and Delhi-Panipat RRTS corridors will also be built. Some stations of these corridors will also be connected with metro stations. Four stations of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor namely Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, Anand Vihar and Ghaziabad will be connected to the nearest Delhi Metro stations.

These 4 stations will be connected

Sarai Kale Khan RRTS station will be connected with Pink Line Metro Station and New Ashok Nagar RRTS Station will be connected with Blue Line of Delhi Metro. The RRTS station at Anand Vihar will be connected to both the Pink and Blue Metro lines. Ghaziabad Rapid Rail Station will be connected to the Red Line of Delhi Metro.

This will be beneficial

Passengers will be greatly benefited by the connection of RRTS stations and metro stations. Blue Metro will be available at New Ashok Nagar RRTS station only. With this it will be easy to reach Delhi and Noida. Blue and Pink lines will be available in Anand Vihar. With this, South Delhi and AIIMS can be reached easily. Passengers will also be able to catch the Blue Line from here. Passengers will also be benefited by connecting with the metro station near Sarai Kale Khan.

Rapid rail may run next month

Construction of 82 km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is in full swing. In the first phase of this corridor, the rapid rail between Sahibabad and Duhai is expected to be operational by April, 2023. This project is expected to be completed in 2025. Similarly, the 198 km Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar corridor of the RTS will be constructed in three phases. Starting in the northwest direction from Delhi, the 103-km-long Delhi-Panipat RRTS corridor with 17 stations will connect the capital with cities like Murthal, Gannaur, Samalkha and Panipat in Haryana.
