Google Chrome update alert: India’s top cybersecurity organization, the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), has issued a high-risk alert regarding the desktop version of Google Chrome.

According to the advisory, several serious security vulnerabilities have been found in versions of the Chrome browser that have not been updated since version 137.0.7151.119/.120 on Windows and macOS and version 137.0.7151.119 on Linux.

By exploiting these security vulnerabilities, cybercriminals can run malicious code on a user’s computer, crash the browser, or steal confidential information, all by simply visiting a malicious or compromised website. Because these attacks can occur without any obvious signs, users may not be aware of the attack until important data is lost.

CERT-In urges users to do so immediately

To protect their devices, CERT-In has urged users to immediately install the latest stable version of Google’s Chrome browser. The official patch is now available. According to Google’s recent update, version 137.0.7151.119/.120 for Windows and macOS and 137.0.7151.119 for Linux has been released to the stable channel for desktop and will be gradually rolled out in the coming days or weeks.

Tips to stay safe

Update immediately: Update your Chrome browser to the latest stable version immediately to fix known vulnerabilities.

Turn on auto-updates: Make sure Chrome’s automatic update setting is active so that future security improvements can be applied immediately.

Report issues: If you find a new bug or problem, report it using Google’s official bug tracker or reach out through the community support forum.

If you are a Chrome user, be a little careful. Because India’s cybersecurity agency, CERT-In, has warned about two vulnerabilities in the popular browser Google Chrome that can be exploited by hackers.

These new warnings are mainly for Chrome users on Mac, PC and laptop platforms, not for smartphone users. Due to these vulnerabilities, attackers can harm the user’s data and devices. Therefore, it is advisable to update to the latest version of the browser. CERT-In has asked users to immediately apply security patches and update their Chrome browser to avoid these threats.

What vulnerabilities were found in Google Chrome?

According to the CERT-In website, Google Chrome is currently facing a major vulnerability – CIVN-2025-0099. The watchdog also noted that Chrome versions earlier than 136.0.7103.113/.114 for Windows and Mac, and versions earlier than 136.0.7103.113 for Linux, are at risk.

How could this vulnerability affect you?

According to CERT-In, several vulnerabilities have been found in Google Chrome (CIVN-2025-0099). CERT-In has warned that if these vulnerabilities are exploited, it could expose sensitive data or cause system instability. The agency said that these flaws are caused by insufficient policy enforcement in the browser’s loader component and poor management in Mojo, which handles inter-process communication in Chrome.

“Multiple vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome due to insufficient policy enforcement in the loader in Mojo and provision of incorrect handles under unspecified conditions,” the CERT-In alert states. A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by convincing a victim to visit a specially crafted web page. Exploiting these vulnerabilities could allow a remote attacker to inject arbitrary code on a target system.

Understand it in simple terms that the presence of these vulnerabilities in your system makes your system’s security system so weak that any hacker or scammer can easily take control of your system and use your personal data arbitrarily.

The post Government issued high risk warning, use Google Chrome to do these things first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.
