PUC Certificate Mandatory

At present, there are government-authorized testing cabins at some petrol pumps in Delhi, which issue Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates. Vehicle owners are required to get their vehicles tested every year and renew their PUC certificates. Now, to make this system more stringent, a special device is being installed at all petrol pumps in Delhi. This device will identify vehicles whose PUC certificate has expired. Such vehicles will be refused fuel.

There are about 500 petrol pumps in Delhi where this system is being implemented. When a vehicle that does not comply with the emission standards arrives to fill fuel, the system will declare it a “defaulter” and the petrol pump staff will refuse to give fuel to that vehicle.

How will it be identified?

This new system is connected to a central database, which will check the status of the vehicle based on the vehicle’s registration number. If the vehicle’s PUC certificate has expired, the petrol pump workers will be informed about it.

At present this system has been implemented at the following petrol pumps:

• Veejay Service Station , Kalidas Marg
• Angra HP Centre , Vinay Marg, Opposite Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri
• Anup Service Station , Plot No. 10, DDA Community Centre, Alaknanda
• Ugra Sain and Sons , Opposite Welcome Metro Station, Shahdara
• Qutab Service Station , Mehrauli Road
• Intimate Service Station , Panchsheel Park

Special focus on 15 year old vehicles

The Delhi government had recently announced that vehicles older than 15 years will not be given fuel. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that a special team will be formed to identify such vehicles. He said, “We are installing such equipment at petrol pumps, which will identify vehicles older than 15 years and they will be denied fuel.” It is worth noting that a policy is already in force in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), under which diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years cannot run on the roads.

Angered by this reply of the government, the opposition walked out of the House. Digital meters were installed only two years ago. A lot of corruption came to light in these. Now the meters are being changed again. He said that the government has handed over the task of installing pre-paid meters to the Adani Group.

He said that protests and sieges are being held against it across the state. After installing smart meters, the companies will put whatever pressure they want on the public. He said that if it is not recharged, the electricity will be cut off automatically. Where there is no network, how will people use it? Where smart meters have been installed earlier, there are many flaws in them. Congress strongly opposes this.

MLA Tilakraj Behad said that the government has given the contract to install these meters at a cost of Rs 2027 crore to different companies in Garhwal and Kumaon. In Garhwal, this contract has been given to Genesis Company, which has been raided by ED and two of its officers are in jail. Deputy Leader of Opposition Bhuvan Kapri said that the bill for this meter will come in 28 days, that is, the common man will have to pay the bill for 13 months instead of 12 months.

Mamta Rakesh, Bhuvan Chand Kapri, Adesh Chauhan, Gopal Singh Rana, Pritam Singh, Sumit Hridayesh, Vikram Negi, Manoj Tiwari, Ravi Bahadur, Mamta Rakesh and Virendra Jati also expressed their views from the Congress side. Responding to this, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prem Chand Agarwal said that installation of meters will stop theft. Billing problems will end with its online reading. The work of company selection has been done with complete transparency. The government is working on this thoughtfully.

Police verification of those working in Dhabas…

Apart from this, the Chief Minister talked about making police verification of employees working in all food establishments and dhabas mandatory. This will not only reveal the background of the employees, but it will also be an important step from the security point of view. The Chief Minister also hinted towards the necessary amendment in the Food Safety and Standards Act. Under this, it will be ensured that the name and address of the operator, proprietor, and manager are clearly displayed at the food centers. This will provide information to the consumers and in case of any problem, the responsible person can be traced.

CCTV will be installed in all restaurants and hotels

. Strict instructions have also been issued regarding hygiene. All chefs and waiters will have to wear masks and gloves while cooking or serving food. This will not only ensure hygiene but will also prevent contamination of food items. CCTV cameras have also been made mandatory. Now CCTV will have to be installed in all restaurants and hotels, so that any kind of irregularity can be monitored.

Strict action against operator or proprietor in case of irregularities

Finally, the Chief Minister clarified that if adulteration of waste or dirty things is found in any food establishment, then strict action will be taken against the operator or proprietor. By taking such steps, the government aims to not only ensure the safety of consumers but also maintain the quality of food items. These instructions are aimed at protecting the health of consumers as well as maintaining the hygiene and quality of food items, thereby increasing the reliability and standard in the food industry in Uttar Pradesh.

Here are the main guidelines given by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath…

• Food adulteration : In recent times, there have been incidents of adulteration of items like juice, pulses, and bread with human waste and dirty things, which will not be tolerated.
• Intensive checking : All food establishments, such as Dhabas and restaurants, will be inspected. A state-wide intensive campaign will be conducted to verify operators and employees.
• Joint action : Investigation and action will be carried out by a joint team of Food Safety and Drug Administration, police and local administration.
• Display of Information : The name and address of the operator, proprietor, and manager shall be prominently displayed at eating establishments.
• Provision of CCTV : All food establishments will be fitted with CCTV cameras covering all areas. Operators have been directed to keep the CCTV feeds secure.
• Ensuring hygiene : Special attention will be paid to cleanliness at food centers. It will be mandatory for the staff to wear masks and gloves while preparing and serving food items.
• Strict action : Strict action will be taken against those who play with the health of the general public. Rules for activities related to food items will be made strict and prompt action will be taken against those who violate the rules.
