DoT To prevent cyber fraud, the Department of Telecommunications has introduced “Financial Fraud Risk Indicator (FRI)”. This indicator will not allow UPI users to transfer money to the numbers of fraudsters. Know how this indicator works.

Cyber fraud is no longer a new thing. Lakhs of people have fallen victim to it. However, the Department of Cyber Security and the Government of India are making people aware about it. In this regard, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of the Government of India has issued new security measures for lakhs of UPI users. This security measure is being called the Financial Fraud Risk Indicator (FRI), which will involve banking and non-banking institutions to prevent common UPI-related frauds and scams. All these institutions will work together to prevent scams.

In fact, the Financial Fraud Risk Indicator released by the Department of Telecommunications will primarily analyse certain phone numbers and ultimately block such numbers that are attempting cybercrime activity. Launched under the Digital Intelligence Platform, the measure is designed to create a secure payment system and encourage more people across the country to adopt digital transactions. The FRI system will help banks and non-banking institutions identify risky transactions, thereby preventing them before they are completed.

UPI Security Update

The Financial Fraud Risk Indicator System will act as a tool that will help financial institutions keep an eye on suspicious phone numbers and UPI addresses. It is being said that the FRI will mark numbers that have been reported as sources of spam or cybercrime. This will also include numbers that have failed the verification process and have been found to be violating various rules.

Once the numbers are marked, they will be categorized into three levels of risk – medium, high and very high. This categorization will be done entirely based on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal, Chakshu platform and other intelligence received from financial institutions.

Once categorized, the data is sent to central servers. Whenever a UPI user tries to transfer money to such a number if the transaction is marked as ‘very high risk’, the UPI app will block that transaction and alert the user. For numbers marked as medium risk, a warning will be given to the user.

Now making digital payments is going to be even safer. If you also use UPI apps like Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay or BHIM, then this news is very important for you. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched a new security system with the aim of preventing online fraud.

This new initiative is called Financial Fraud Risk Indicator (FRI). Its job is to identify mobile numbers that may be involved in fraud. If a number is being used for cybercrime or any suspicious activity is seen in it, it will be blocked.

What will the new system do?

The FRI system is a kind of digital alert tool. As soon as any banking or UPI transaction involves a suspicious number, this system will identify it and alert banks and other financial institutions. Fraud can be stopped before it happens.

The most special thing about this system is that it will work not only for banks but also for non-banking platforms. That is, apps like Paytm, PhonePe, GPay will also be able to keep their users safe with the help of this tool.

What numbers will FRI catch?

Numbers that have already been found to be associated with a scam

Numbers that have not completed KYC or verification

Or those who repeatedly violate the rules

All such numbers will be flagged through this system and blocked if necessary.

Why is it important?

Nowadays, digital payments have become very common, but with it, cases of cyber fraud have also increased rapidly. In such a situation, this step of the government will not only increase the security of the common people but also increase the trust in digital transactions.

What should users do?

Always verify your mobile number and UPI apps.

Do not trust any unknown calls or links.

If you encounter any problems with your transaction, contact your bank immediately.

This initiative by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is taking the country towards a secure digital ecosystem.

Due to UPI outage, customers of HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda and Kotak Mahindra Bank faced a lot of problems in online payments. Due to UPI being down, thousands across the country were neither able to receive money nor transfer money. However, now UPI has been completely fixed and now all the services are working as before.

Due to this outage which lasted for about one and a half hours, users using different applications faced many problems. After this, NPCI tweeted and informed about the restoration of UPI services. NPCI also released an official statement regarding the reason for the outage.

NPCI had faced intermittent technical issues owing to which UPI had partial decline. The same has been addressed now and the system has stabilised. Regret the inconvenience.

NPCI posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that the outage was due to technical problems. NPCI said that all the technical problems have now been completely resolved and now users can use UPI.

According to DownDetector, the problem with UPI started by 7:50 pm. Within a short time, thousands of complaints were registered on the website regarding the outage. Let us tell you that India’s Unified Payments Interface is a popular online payment service. It has been designed by the National Payments Corporation of India. At present, no response has been given by NPCI regarding the UPI outage.

With the increasing use of digital payments in the country, UPI (Unified Payments Interface) has made transactions even more convenient. But now from February, some important changes have been made in this service.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has issued an important circular, which has given information about the new rules related to UPI ID. According to these rules, no financial transactions can be done through UPI ID with special characters from February 1, 2025.

From February 1, a new rule has come into effect for all financial transactions related to UPI. Now only alphanumeric letters (AZ, az, 0-9) can be used in UPI ID. This means that UPI IDs made up of special characters like @, #, %, $ will no longer be valid. If you have used any such ID, it will no longer be eligible for transactions through UPI.

Why did NPCI take this step?

This step has been taken with the aim of making UPI transactions simple and secure. Earlier too, NPCI had suggested alphanumeric ID for UPI ID, but some banks and payment companies were ignoring it. Now, NPCI has decided to take strict action against non-compliance of this rule. Implementation of these new instructions will ensure a better and more secure payment experience for both the UPI user and the bank.

What do you have to do?

If you are still using any special symbols like @, #, %, $ etc. in your UPI ID, then you will need to change it. Failure to do so may result in your UPI ID being blocked for financial transactions. Therefore, you will have to make your ID alphanumeric, so that you can make transactions without any hassle.

This change is being made with the aim of making UPI more secure and user-friendly. If you had added any special symbols to your UPI ID till now, this is the deadline for you to change it properly.

There is no need to worry even if you do not have an ATM card in your pocket, because now cash can be withdrawn from the ATM even without it. You will only need your smartphone. The method is very easy.

If you want to withdraw money from an ATM machine, a debit card is required. But in today’s digital and technology era, you can withdraw money from ATM machine even without a debit card. For this you should only have your mobile. For this you do not need an ATM card. This banking service has been running for many days.

Although many banks were already providing the facility to their customers to withdraw money without card, but now the Reserve Bank has further expanded its scope. UPI i.e. Unified Payment Interface will be used for this facility. RBI has allowed banks to provide the facility of withdrawing money without using the card. Today we will talk in detail about withdrawing money from ATM without card.

To withdraw money from ATM without debit card, you must have a smartphone. Your smartphone should have any UPI enabled app like BHIM, Paytm, GPay, PhonePe etc. You will be able to withdraw money through these apps only.

Follow these steps

To withdraw money, first go to the ATM and choose the option to withdraw money without card. You will see the option to provide identification through UPI. After this, open the UPI app in your mobile and scan the QR code visible in front. You will be authenticated through UPI and after that you will be able to withdraw money. The further process will be the same as before. Enter the amount of money you want and withdraw your money.

Which technology will be used?

The Reserve Bank will soon issue separate instructions to NPCI, ATM network and banks to provide the facility of withdrawing money from ATM without debit card. Unified Payment Interface i.e. UPI will be used for this facility. Customers will be identified through UPI and such transactions will be settled through the ATM network. Let us tell you that this step will also provide a lot of relief to banks.

Benefits of withdrawing money without card

Reserve Bank Governor Shakti anta Das has said that the facility of withdrawing money from ATM without card is very beneficial. He had said that the facility of cash withdrawal without card will help in preventing frauds like card skimming, card cloning. Apart from this, you will not need to keep the card with you. Your smartphone will do all this work.

The post ATM Cash Withdrawal : You can withdraw cash from ATM without ATM card, know the complete process first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.

Online Payment: The number of making digital payments has increased in the last few years. Digital payments are continuously increasing.

Online payments have become a convenient option to send money instead of standing in long queues at bank branches or ATMs while digital payments through Unified Payments Interface (UPI) are convenient and easy, though at times prone to errors Because wrong UPI ID or account number can lead to wrong transaction.

There are two common problems many people often face while making transfers online through UPI Payments – wrong amount transfer or transfer amount to the wrong person. However, in such cases one need not panic as the money can be easily obtained.

In case of wrong online payment, all you have to do is call the customer care of payment platforms like GPay, PhonePe, Paytm UPI. Register a complaint by sharing transaction details. In addition to this, you will also have to file a complaint with your bank.

Make a complaint
