7th Pay Commission latest: The government has officially announced the interest rate for General Provident Fund (GPF) and other related provident fund schemes for July-September 2025.

The GPF interest rate for central employees has been fixed at 7.1% in the July-September 2025 quarter. According to the notification issued by the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), this rate will be applicable from July 1 to September 30, 2025. Let us tell you that the Finance Ministry reviews the GPF interest rate every quarter. There was no change in the interest rate during the last quarter as well.

Interest rate is also applicable on these funds

This interest rate is also applicable for General Provident Fund (Central Services), Contributory Provident Fund (India), All India Services Provident Fund, State Railway Provident Fund, General Provident Fund (Defence Services), Indian Ordnance Department Provident Fund, Indian Ordnance Factories Workmen’s Provident Fund, Indian Naval Dockyard Workmen’s Provident Fund, Defence Services Officers Provident Fund, Armed Forces Personnel Provident Fund. These funds are maintained by various government departments and are available to government employees. Government employees regularly deposit a part of their salary in these schemes.

Interest rate same as PPF

Although the GPF interest rate is the same as the Public Provident Fund (PPF) rate of 7.1%, there are some key differences. PPF is for all Indian citizens, including the self-employed. It also has a lock-in period of 15 years. In contrast, GPF is only for government employees and allows full withdrawal on retirement.

EPF is different from these two

Apart from this, Employee Provident Fund (EPF) is also a scheme run by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). It is mainly for salaried employees of the private sector. Its interest rate is reviewed by the EPFO on an annual basis. Currently, the interest rate is 8.25 percent.

Interest on these provident funds also remains stable

Apart from GPF, other similar provident funds will also get interest at the rate of 7.1 percent in the March quarter. According to the notification, the names of the provident funds on which this decision is applicable are – General Provident Fund (Central Services), Contributory Provident Fund (India), All India Services Provident Fund, State Railway Provident Fund, General Provident Fund (Defence Services). ,

A fixed part of the salary of a government employee goes to GPF, provided he is not suspended. The employee’s contribution to GPF stops 3 months before superannuation.

Earlier I was getting this much interest

The government notifies GPF interest rates every quarter. There has been no change in the interest rates of GPF since 2020-21. Before that, in the first quarter of the financial year 2019-20, 8 percent interest was being given on GPF, which kept decreasing further.

General PF Interest Rate: If you yourself or any government employee in your family then this news is for you.

Yes, the Finance Ministry has given its decision on the interest rate of General Provident Fund (General PF) for the October-December quarter of the financial year 2024. The interest rate of GPF has been kept unchanged at 7.1 percent by the Finance Ministry. That means, this quarter too, interest will be paid on GPF at the old rate of 7.1 percent. This interest rate will be effective from 1 October 2023 to 31 December 2023.

Only government employees can invest

Let us tell you that GPF is a social security scheme available for central employees. Government employees can become its members by contributing a fixed portion of their salary. Only government employees can invest in GPF account. There is no contribution of any kind in this from the government. The government gives only interest on this. However, this investment should not be less than 6% of the employee’s salary.

Exemption to taxpayers under Section 80C,

the maximum contribution in this can be up to 100% of the employee’s salary. The maturity of the investment made in this occurs at the time of retirement. Employees can also take loan against GPF.

In this tax saving scheme, taxpayers get exemption under Section 80C. On the other hand, the government has not changed the interest rate of PPF for the October to December quarter. This also remains at the old level of 7.1 percent.

Recently, the government had changed the interest rate of 5 year RD scheme in small saving schemes for the October quarter. The Finance Ministry had increased its interest rate from 6.5 percent to 6.7 percent. There was no change in the interest rates available on other small savings schemes including PPF.

The post GPF Interest Rate: Finance Ministry’s big update for employees, You will get this much interest on PF first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.

Central employees were expected to increase the interest rates on General Provident Fund (General PF), but they have got a big shock. In fact, the central government has not increased the interest rates on General PF savings even for the 14th consecutive quarter.

The Center has implemented CPF interest rates on General Provident Fund (GPF) without change for the April-June 2023 quarter. The Finance Ministry has announced no increase in interest rates for General Provident Fund (GPF) investors from April 1, 2023, despite a significant increase in the interest rates of select small savings schemes.

Investors who have been expecting interest rates to rise for a long time have been shocked. Let us tell you that the interest rates on GPF have not been increased since the last 13 quarters and now for the 14th time also the government has decided to keep the interest rates unchanged.

The Finance Ministry has announced the interest rate for General Provident Fund (GPF) and Mixed Fund Schemes. The ministry has kept the interest rate for GPF and similar funds unchanged for the April-June quarter of 2023. In a circular issued on April 10, 2023, the Ministry of Finance said that it is announced that during the year 2023-2024, deposits of customers in the General Provident Fund and other similar funds will be taxed at the rate of 7.1 percent from April 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023. Interest will be charged.

There is big news for Central Government Employees. The government has made a big change in the rules related to retirement funds. According to the information received from the government, there has been a big change in the rules of General Provident Fund. If there is a government employee in your house too, then there is important news for all of them.

Let us tell you that the ceiling on PF has now been fixed by the government for investment in GPF. A ceiling has been put on the investment of Provident Fund. After this decision taken by the government, government employees can deposit only up to Rs 5 lakh in GPF.

What is GPF?

According to the information received from the government, this limit has been fixed for one financial year. GPF is a kind of voluntary scheme. Government sector employees invest in this scheme. In this, the benefit of 7.1 percent interest (GPF interest rate) is available on investment.

Let us tell you that government employees can deposit a part of their salary in the General Provident Fund and this money is returned to the account holders at the time of retirement. Interest is earned on the money deposited in GPF.

How much interest do you get?

Government employees can contribute up to 15 per cent of their salary. The advance fee of this account is the most special. Employees can withdraw the fixed amount from their account as and when required. No tax is levied on this amount and the government has fixed the interest amount at 7.1 percent.
