The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has improved the system keeping in mind the convenience of entrepreneurs. Now the promoters and directors of a company can complete their biometric authentication to complete the GST registration process in their home state itself.

Earlier, to obtain GST registration, either an OTP verification process was required or biometric authentication had to be done by visiting the GST Facilitation Center in the registered jurisdiction of the company.

Now biometric authentication will be done in your home state as well

Biometric authentication used to happen only in the state where you are registering your GST. However, now the biometric authentication process can be completed in your home state instead of the state where GST registration is being sought.

For example, if your company is getting registered in Delhi and you are from Maharashtra, then you have to go to Delhi and complete the GST registration. With this update made by GSTN on March 3, 2025, now you can complete the GST registration from Maharashtra itself without coming to Delhi.

Biometric authentication was introduced to curb fake registrations

Experts say that the government had introduced biometric authentication to curb fake registrations for claiming input tax credit (ITC). By choosing the option of biometric authentication, taxpayers get separate evidence about the physical verification of company officials, which can strengthen the case in court if needed.

What do experts say

Experts say that all those registering for GST should always opt for biometric authentication as it adds an extra layer of security and authenticity to GST registration. Earlier, when the biometric authentication option was not available, there were many fake registrations and misuse of input tax credit (ITC).

The GST Network (GSTN) has deferred the rule for uploading e-invoices for businesses with a turnover of more than Rs 100 crore for 3 months. Till now this rule was made effective from May 1. This decision has been taken in view of the problems of the businessmen. For the latter, the implementation of the deadline has been postponed by 3 months.

The GST network last month made it mandatory for businesses with a turnover of Rs 100 crore and above to upload e-invoices on the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) from May 1, 2023. Under this, instructions were issued to the businessmen to upload the invoice within 7 days of issue. Whereas, earlier there was no such restriction for businesses to upload invoices on IRP.

In this matter, on May 6, the GST Network said that it has been decided to defer the implementation of the 7-day reporting deadline for taxpayers on the e-invoice IRP portal for 3 months. Businessmen doing business equal to or more than Rs 100 crore for three months i.e. till August 2023 will have to upload invoices in the old way. This has brought great relief to the businessmen.

AMRG & Associates Senior Partner Rajat Mohan said that in the last few days big businesses were perplexed about the rule of issuing e-invoices within 7 days from the date of invoice. Keeping in mind the various problems, big businesses have now been given relief for the next three months, so that the necessary provisions can be implemented smoothly.

As per the GST law, businesses cannot avail Input Tax Credit ( ITC ) if e-invoices are not uploaded on the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP). Currently, companies can upload their e-invoices anytime, but after the new rule came into force, they had only 7 days. Explain that businessmen can upload debit and credit notes even after 7 days i.e. as before.

GSTN has given relief to big GST registered businessmen. GSTN has once again extended the last date for uploading e-invoices to traders of more than 100 crores.

This will benefit those businessmen whose turnover is 100 crores or more. Where the businessmen had to upload their e-invoices in 7 days, now they have been given more time in this.

Let us tell you, according to GSTN, businessmen had to upload their e-invoices on IRP i.e. Invoice Registration Portal. But now its deadline has been extended once again. Now the businessmen have got 3 more months for this.

Invoice to be uploaded on IRP within 7 days

From May 1, GSTN had implemented the rule on the IRP portal for uploading e-invoices from traders within 7 days. Under which they had to upload e-challan within 7 days. But, now its deadline has been extended for 3 months. According to the earlier rule, if companies do not upload their e-invoices on the IRP portal, then they do not get the benefit of input tax benefits available under it.

got 3 months more time

Let me tell you, businessmen of more than 100 crores had to submit their invoices on the IRP portal for 7 days. But on Sunday, GSTN said that this arrangement has been postponed for 3 months. Meaning if businessmen upload their invoices on the portal on the 8th day instead of 7 days, then they will not be allowed to do so. That is, if someone has billed on May 1, then the businessman will have to submit the challan of that invoice on the IRP portal by May 7. He will not be able to upload it on 8th May.

The post Big relief for businessmen!

New GST Rules: A big update has come regarding Goods and Service Tax i.e. GST. Actually, GST Network (GSTN) has changed the rules regarding transactions.

The new rule will come into effect from 1 May 2023 and it will be necessary for businessmen to follow it. According to GSTN, from May 1, it will be necessary to upload the receipt of any transaction on the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) within seven days. Changes have been made in the rules for timely compliance of GST compliance.

Know to whom the new rule will apply

Changes have been made in the rules for timely compliance of GST compliance. According to GSTN, it will be necessary for all businessmen with a turnover of more than 100 crores to follow this rule from May 1, 2023. Under the new rule, businesses with a turnover of more than 100 crores will not be able to upload invoices older than seven days.

It is clear that receipt of transactions older than 7 days will not be uploaded on GSTN and returns cannot be claimed on it. However, this rule is only for invoices. Businessmen will be able to upload debit and credit notes even after seven days.

Know what experts say

The GST rule says that if an invoice is not uploaded on the IRP, then the businessmen will not be able to take advantage of the input tax credit on it. Explain that input tax credit is claimed to get back the difference between the raw material and the final product of a product.

At present, companies can upload their e-invoices anytime, but after the new rule comes into force, they will have only seven days. Experts say that the new rule will be helpful in increasing the GST collection. Along with this, companies will also get the benefit of ITC on time. Its purpose is to strengthen the process of digitization.
