Monsoon has once again become active in Madhya Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has declared a yellow alert for 12 districts of the state on Thursday, 21 August 2025.

Experts say that these districts may receive rainfall of two and a half to four and a half inches in the next 24 hours. The districts which have been placed in the alert category include Neemuch, Mandsaur, Agar-Malwa, Rajgarh, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Sheopur, Umaria, Shahdol, Dindori and Anuppur. Due to heavy rainfall in these areas, there is a possibility of waterlogging in low-lying areas and affecting life.

So far 87 percent of monsoon quota has been completed

This time the rains have performed well in the state. Till August 20, an average of 32.4 inches of water has fallen in Madhya Pradesh, which is about 87 percent of the 37.3 inches set for the entire season. This means that a large part of the monsoon has been completed and the last week of August is yet to come. Meteorologists believe that the rainfall in many districts may go above normal due to the rains in the coming days.

Heavy rain in Ratlam and Damoh, many districts flooded

On Wednesday, heavy rains continued throughout the state. In Ratlam district, about 3 inches of water fell in just 9 hours, due to which waterlogging occurred on the city roads. Damoh also recorded two and a half inches of rainfall. Apart from this, the effect of rain was also seen in districts like Indore, Gwalior, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Bhopal, Ujjain, Betul, Narsinghpur, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Shajapur, Chhindwara, Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Vidisha, Dewas and Balaghat. At some places it was heavy and at some places it was drizzling throughout the day.

The effect of rain increased due to active system According to the Meteorological Department, a strong system is currently active in the state. A monsoon trough is passing through Betul and Mandla. Along with this, the effect of two cyclonic circulations is also there. Due to these reasons, clouds are continuously forming and heavy rain is likely in many parts. Experts have warned that the series of heavy to very heavy rains may continue in many districts for the next two days i.e. 22 and 23 August.

The post IMD Alert: Heavy Rain Expected in 12 Districts Over the Next 24 Hours – Stay Prepared first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.
