The Chandigarh Manali Highway has been closed due to landslide near Aut between Mandi and Kullu and there is a long jam.

Lahaul Spiti has been the worst hit and schools and colleges have been closed for the second consecutive day. Lahaul Spiti has received around five feet of snowfall in three days and this area is cut off from the country and the world. Around 150 roads are closed here and electricity and water supply have stopped. A lake has formed due to blockage of a Jeera Nala by a landslide in Tosh Valley of Kullu and danger is looming around the Parvati River.

DC Kullu Torul S Ravish said that there has been continuous rain and snowfall in Kullu district for two days and traffic on two national highways is closed due to heavy snowfall. The DC said that on Thursday a snow avalanche fell in Dhundhi near Atal Tunnel. However, there was no damage due to this.

Mahashivratri festival begins amidst rain

Mahashivratri festival started in Mandi on Thursday and it rained throughout the day and people were seen with umbrellas in the royal procession of Shivratri. Due to rain and bad weather, the CM had to leave the helicopter and reach Mandi by road. 35 tourists evacuated from Dodra Kwar in Himachal

More than 300 flights affected from Delhi airport

Due to bad weather and low visibility, 300 flights were delayed in their arrival and departure from Delhi airport and more than 25 trains of Northern Railway were also late. The Meteorological Department has issued yellow and orange alerts regarding fog and cold in 13 states for the next two days. During this time, frost may also occur in some parts of Himachal Pradesh.

According to the latest data of the Meteorological Department, dense to very dense fog prevailed in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday morning and visibility was less than 50 meters. Meanwhile, the visibility was 100 meters in Gorakhpur, 30 meters in Ambala, 40 meters in Rourkela, 50 meters in Bilaspur of Himachal, 100 meters each in Una and Mandi, 50 in Bhagalpur, 100 in Patna and 100 meters in Dehradun. The lowest temperature of 5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Gurdaspur in Punjab. The lowest minimum temperature of 6.9 degrees was recorded in Narnaul in Haryana. The minimum temperature of 2 degrees below zero was recorded in Tamil Nadu’s tourist place Ooty.
