The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is preparing to close down the agencies that collect toll on expressways and national highways.

A meeting has already been held with the banks in this regard and the banks have also agreed to this work. The ministry is busy brainstorming on what will be the model of banks for toll collection.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, out of the country’s 1.5 lakh kilometer long national highway and expressway network, toll is being collected on about 45,000 kilometers. There are 1063 toll plazas across the country.

Preparing for a big change

At present, toll collection work is done by toll agencies across the country. These agencies hire employees at the local level and collect toll. The toll fee will be paid to NHAI and the expressway construction company, which is decided in the terms and conditions. The ministry is going to make a big change in this model.

Preparations to end toll plaza

According to the Road Transport Ministry, toll barriers will be abolished in the country. This will save time for drivers. Although earlier there was a plan to collect toll using GPS based technology, now it has been changed. ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) technology will be used to collect toll without stopping.

A new model is being developed

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, preparations are on to hand over the work of toll collection to banks. For this, meetings have been held with many government banks. Banks have agreed to collect toll through ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition). The toll charge will go to the banks. After this, they will hand it over to NHAI. In return, the banks will buy high quality cameras and install them. According to the ministry, it is being discussed as to how many days the banks will keep the money with them. It is likely that its model will also be finalized soon.

Expressway and National Highway: At present, speed revolution is going on in the country. Everyday new highways and expressways are being inaugurated or inaugurated. At present, work is going on on dozens of expressway projects to connect almost all the big cities.

Now more expressways are being discussed than national highways. In such a situation, the question is what is the difference between an expressway and a highway. What is the difference between the texture of these two routes and the speed of the vehicles running on them. According to a report, at present there are more than 4000 km long expressways in the country. Apart from this, work is going on on more than 10 expressway projects.

The most prominent of these are- Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Dwarka Expressway, Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway, Ganga Expressway, Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, Narmada Expressway and Raipur-Visakhapatnam Expressway. All these expressways are in the final stages of their construction. With these, a new revolution is going to come regarding the speed between the big cities of the country.

Expressway

Now the question is that after all this expressway Why is it different from the National Highway? Actually, expressway is synonymous with the highest quality road at present. These are specially prepared roads, which are surrounded by railings on both sides. Their height would have been more than the highway. They are completely outside the populated area. There is no habitation along the expressway. Its design is done in such a way that there is no twist in it. The vehicles keep moving straight.

In this, entry and exit points are made for vehicles at different places. Overall, these roads are designed in such a way that the person driving at high speed does not face any kind of disturbance. Compared to highways and other roads, the speed of vehicles on expressways is much higher.

Generally, the width of the expressway made in the country is of six to eight lanes. In ExpresswayBut there is also a facility to land the aircraft in case of emergency. They can be used as a runway. At present, the longest operational Purvanchal Expressway is in the country. After this, there is the Lucknow-Agra Expressway of Uttar Pradesh itself. Its total length is 302 km.

Vehicles run at a higher speed on the maximum speed

expressway as compared to the National Highway . Although the speed limit is different on different expressways, but on most of them the maximum speed limit is 120 km per hour. While the maximum speed on the highway is 80 to 100 kmph. Entry of two wheelers and three wheelers has been banned on many expressways. For example, a fine of up to Rs 10,000 may have to be paid for driving a motorcycle on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

World’s longest expressway!

The world’s longest expressway is also being built in the country itself. It is on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway . Its total length is about 1300 km. Then a 633 km long expressway is being built between Delhi-Amritsar-Katra. Both these expressways are going to be completed soon.

The post Vehicles Speed Limit fixed: Big news!
