Delhi – Up Rain Alert: It rained in some parts of Delhi-NCR on Thursday morning. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has increased the yellow alert issued earlier to a red alert. There will be heavy rain in UP in the next 48 hours. Know what the Meteorological Department said.

Heavy rain was seen in some parts of Delhi-NCR on Thursday morning. After this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the day. Severe waterlogging was also seen in some areas after the rain. Earlier, the Meteorological Department had issued a yellow alert, which was increased to a red alert this morning. Apart from Delhi-NCR, the Meteorological Department has also warned of heavy rains in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, North Madhya Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh.

Heavy rain in Gurugram since 5 am

The IMD has issued a red alert for heavy rains in entire Delhi except North Delhi on Thursday . The situation is similar in Noida and Ghaziabad. It has been raining heavily in Gurugram since 5 am, due to which many areas of the cyber city have been submerged in water and waterlogging has occurred.

Possibility of rain in UP in next 48 hours

Monsoon is fully active in Uttar Pradesh and due to the low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal, monsoon activities are likely to intensify in the entire state in the next 48 hours. IMD officials said that due to the low pressure area formed over the Bay of Bengal, the eastern end of the ‘monsoon trough’ has shifted southwards, due to which light to moderate rainfall is expected in most parts of UP and heavy to very heavy rains at some places.

The Meteorological Department has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ for Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur, Sitapur, Bahraich, Shravasti, Gonda, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar and Maharajganj districts of the northern part of UP. However, the intensity and extent of rainfall is likely to decrease from August 15. The department has predicted rain or thundershowers at most places in western Uttar Pradesh and some places in the eastern part of the state on Thursday and there are also chances of thundershowers and lightning at some places.

IMD Heavy Rain Red Alert: The weather continues to wreak havoc in the southern Indian state of Kerala. Ever since the monsoon has become active, Kerala has been receiving heavy rains.

During this, the monsoon has allowed a breath of relief for a few days, but after that it has once again come back in full force. Due to the activation of a new system in the Bay of Bengal, the state is receiving continuous heavy rains. The Indian Meteorological Department has now predicted heavy to very heavy rains for the people of three districts of Kerala. Along with this, a red alert has also been issued. This means that along with the general public, the administration has also been asked to be on high alert. People have been advised not to step out of their homes.

Monsoon rains in Kerala have taken a severe turn on Thursday, June 26, 2025, causing flooding in low-lying areas of Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in three districts of the state (Idukki, Malappuram and Wayanad), while an orange alert has been issued in seven other districts of Kerala. A red alert means that more than 20 cm of rain is likely to fall in the next 24 hours. Along with this, an orange alert indicates the possibility of 11 to 20 cm of rain and a yellow alert indicates the possibility of 6 to 11 cm of rain.

Disaster is disaster…

Flood-like conditions…

The rising water level of these rivers and incessant rains have led to flood-like conditions in several low-lying areas. Hundreds of people from Ernakulam, Thrissur and Idukki districts have been shifted to relief camps set up in safer places. At the same time, the Churmala river is in spate due to incessant rains in the Mundakai-Churalmala area of Wayanad district.

The river water here is flowing rapidly and is breaching the banks near the Bailey Bridge, which has increased the chances of flooding in the area. It is worth noting that in July last year, the same area had witnessed horrific landslides, in which more than 200 people died and hundreds of houses were destroyed. This time again, the rains have increased the anxiety of the people, especially in the areas that have already been declared sensitive.
