Indian Railway: Indian Railways is constantly improving its services. Railways is constantly working to enhance the experience of passengers. In this sequence, the Railway Ministry has now also changed the rules of train travel of GRP and RPF jawans.

Now it will be mandatory for the jawans to buy tickets during rail travel. Earlier, the Railways had changed the rules regarding waiting tickets.

This is the whole matter

Regarding its new rule, the railways said that it is now mandatory for the railway police personnel to buy tickets during their journey. Suppose if the personnel want to travel for free, then they will have to take valid permission from their senior officers. Now just an identity card will not suffice. The ministry says that if any accident happens during the journey, then appropriate action can be taken if the ticket is present.

This is the reason behind taking this decision

This decision was taken because recently a Gujarat RPF constable had demanded compensation from the railways due to an accident that happened during travel. He said that he had fallen in the train during duty, so he should be given compensation. The constable was travelling without a ticket. Due to this, the railways have now clarified the rules of travel.

Read about the rules related to waiting tickets

Let us tell you, earlier the railways had made changes in the rules for travelling with waiting tickets. The railways had said in the order that now whether you take a window ticket or any type of waiting, you can no longer travel in the reserved coaches of the railways. If you are caught travelling in reserved coaches with a waiting ticket, then strict action can be taken against you.

Senior citizens can once again get 50 percent discount on train ticket fares. Indian Railways may soon restore the concession available to senior citizens, which was discontinued during the Corona epidemic.

A committee of Parliament has urged the Ministry of Railways to consider reinstating the exemption given to senior citizens in train fare. In this, there has been a demand to restore the relaxation of ticket fare to senior citizens in sleeper class, 3rd AC.

If the Ministry of Railways considers this appeal, then senior citizens can get exemption once again. However, in December 2022, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav made it clear that the discount on ticket fare cannot be restored at present. He told the reason behind this that the pension and salary bill of the Railways is very high. The burden of expenditure on Railways is more than before.

53 percent discount was available

According to the information received from the Ministry of Railways, all the citizens traveling in the train get an average discount of 53 percent on the fare. Along with this, Divyangjans, students and patients get many types of concessions apart from this exemption. Senior citizens were getting such exemption earlier also, but it was withdrawn in March 2020 during the Corona epidemic. Now there is a demand to restore it again.

Discounts were available in all trains

According to the report, the committee noted that the Indian Railways used to give 40 per cent concession in fares to men who were 60 years of age or above and 50 per cent concession to women if the minimum age was 58 years . Let us tell you that senior citizens were getting these concessions in rail tickets in all Mail, Express, Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto trains. The Railways withdrew this discount on train ticket fare during the Corona period.

Indian Railway Rule: Every day lakhs of people travel by railways. For this reason, from time to time, Railways provides many facilities ranging from running special trains.

With time, Railway also changes its rules (Indian Railway Rule Change). Some of its rules already exist, but due to lack of information, passengers are not able to take advantage of it. Today, information is being given about one such Indian Railway Rule.

TTEs are deployed to stop people traveling without tickets and to help passengers in many cases during their journey. TTE checks the ticket of the passengers (TTE Check Train Ticket) and imposes a fine for not having the ticket or takes appropriate action. TTE has the right to go to all the bogies of the train, but it is not asked to go in the ladies reserved bogie.

Male TTE cannot investigate

According to the railway’s website erail.in, checking of coaches reserved for women should generally be done by women ticket collectors or examiners. Male Ticket Checking Officers or Traveling Ticket Examiners are not called for entry in “Ladies” compartments. Railway says that the male ticket checking officer can check the tickets of women only from the platform.

Without Ticket Travel Penalty

It is informed by the Railways that if any passenger is found traveling without a ticket, then the Ticket Checking Officer can take appropriate action. A fine is imposed by the Railways for traveling without a ticket. A fine of Rs 250 along with an amount equal to the minimum additional fee may be imposed at the station from where the passenger has started the journey or the station from where the train has departed or the checking point.

What happens if the fine is not paid

If a passenger does not pay the fine then TTE can take the help of RPF. For traveling without ticket and not paying the fine amount, a case of cheating can be prosecuted under section 137. Also you may have to go to jail.
