This scheme was started by IRCTC in the year 2015. This scheme is also called Alternate Train Accommodation Scheme (ATAS). Through this scheme, Railways tries to provide more quantity of confirmed tickets to the passengers.

To use the Vikalp scheme, book train tickets on the IRCTC website. Select the option scheme while booking. You can select 7 trains under this scheme. After this, Railways will confirm your ticket in the train in which there is space.

Vikalp scheme increases the chances of getting confirmed tickets even during festival times.
