Srinagar: The launch of the Jammu to Srinagar Vande Bharat train is eagerly awaited. Vande Bharat of this route is the much awaited third Vande Bharat Express train of Indian Railways. It is set to be launched after the completion of Prayagraj Maha Kumbh Mela 2025. This Vande Bharat Express train will be a new semi-high-speed train connecting Jammu and Srinagar.

Currently, to handle the huge influx of passengers and the increasing demand, the Ministry of Railways is busy and constantly monitoring the ticket sales and crowd round the clock. Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 will end on February 26.

Will run on Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link

The much-awaited Vande Bharat Express connecting Jammu and Srinagar is set to revolutionise rail travel in the region. This state-of-the-art train will run on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL). This Vande Bharat route will offer passengers a world-class travel experience. This train, operated by the Northern Railway zone, is the third Vande Bharat service in the region, after the success of two routes connecting Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) to Delhi.

It will start in the first week of March

The new Vande Bharat Express will cover a distance of over 150 km between Srinagar and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. The train is in its attractive orange and brown colour. Prime Minister Narendra Modi may inaugurate it in the first week of March. However, the exact date and time is yet to be confirmed by the Railway Board.

You will reach Srinagar in two and a half hours

The Vande Bharat Express will provide a fast and comfortable journey, reducing travel time significantly. With a travel duration of just 2 hours 30 minutes, the train will run on the following timetable:

– Departure from SVDK: 08:10 hrs
– Arrival at Srinagar: 11:20 hrs
– Departure from Srinagar: 12:45 hrs
– Arrival at SVDK: 15:55 hrs

The train’s modern design and high speed are a result of the expertise of the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, a major coach factory that manufactures coaches for the Indian Railways.

Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat train fare

The ticket prices of Jammu-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express have not been officially disclosed yet, but initial estimates suggest that the AC chair car will cost around Rs 1,500-1,600, while the executive chair car will cost between Rs 2,200-2,500. This fare guarantees a wonderful journey amid the breathtaking views of Kashmir. You will be able to travel while enjoying the beautiful valleys.

Railways have indicated to start train service between Jammu and Srinagar in the coming weeks. This will be the route between which one Vande Bharat Express and two mail/express trains will run. Railways have also released the timetable of trains on this route. The special thing will be that Vande Bharat train will complete the one-way journey in 3 hours 10 minutes. Whereas mail/express trains will complete this journey in 3 hours 20 minutes. It is not clear yet whether train operations from Delhi to Srinagar will also start soon or not.

According to the timetable, Vande Bharat will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) at 8:10 am and reach Srinagar at 11:20 am. The train will start its return journey from Srinagar at 12:45 pm and reach SDVK at 3:55 pm. The other two trains will also make round trips daily.

Trains will run without interruption even in winter

The railways have modified one Vande Bharat train and five other fully air-conditioned trains to suit the climatic conditions of the valley. The specialty of these trains is that they will be able to run seamlessly, especially during the winter months.

Vistadome will also continue

A railway official said, ‘Currently six trains are running in the valley. These trains also include a Vistadome. All these trains will also continue to run. Apart from these, Vande Bharat and two other trains have been added.’

Ministry created Jammu Railway Division

Meanwhile, to strengthen rail operations in the region, the ministry has created a new Jammu Rail Division and PM Modi will lay its foundation stone on Monday. In another development, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav shared a video of the newly built sleeper version of the Vande Bharat train. The video shows the train undergoing speed testing, with the train running at a speed of 180 kmph.

The railways said in a statement that the Vande Bharat Sleeper train has achieved the maximum speed in several of its trials over the last three days. The trials will continue till the end of this month before this world-class long-distance travel becomes available to rail passengers across the country, the Railway Ministry said.
