Jan Dhan Bank Account Re-KYC: Jan Dhan account holders will now have to get re-KYC done. Banking facilities may be affected if documents are not updated on time. Know which documents will be required.

There are more than 55 crore Jan Dhan bank accounts in the country. Jan Dhan accounts have become the easiest way for common people to connect with banking services. Crores of people have started saving and taking advantage of government schemes with the help of these accounts. But some formalities have to be completed to keep the account active and avail the facilities. Re-KYC is one step in this process.

In which customers have to submit their necessary documents again. If this work is not done on time, then the facilities related to the account may be affected. In such a situation, it is important that you know which documents should be kept ready so that you do not have to face any problem and the account always remains active.

Jan Dhan accounts will have re-KYC

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released a new information on the occasion of completion of 10 years of the launch of Jan Dhan Yojana. From 1 July to 30 September 2025, camps are being organized for KYC of all Jan Dhan account holders at the Panchayat level. If the address in any account needs to be changed or any information needs to be changed, then it can be done through these camps by submitting the relevant documents.

Apart from this, if someone wants to update their personal information, then that too can be updated so that no one faces any problem in keeping the account active in future. This is the specialty of the accounts opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. In all these, you do not have to maintain the monthly average balance, all these accounts are zero balance accounts.

These documents will be needed

You will need some documents to get re-KYC done. The most important of which is Aadhar card. After this, you must also have documents like voter card or ration card or driving license or passport so that your identity as well as your address can be verified. If you have shifted from one place to another or there is a change in any information, then your information will also be updated in the camp. Let us tell you that till 30 September 2025, these camps will be organized by RBI in different panchayats.

The post Jan Dhan Accounts Now Require Re-KYC: Essential Documents You Must Keep Ready first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.

The decisions of the monetary policy meeting of the Reserve Bank of India have come out today. RBI has not made any change in the repo rate. Apart from this, RBI has taken three important decisions to make banking services easy and accessible.

These steps are centered on simplifying the claim settlement process for the families of deceased account holders to increasing the access of common people to the government bond market. Reserve Bank of India Governor Sanjay Malhotra made these announcements after the meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). He said that these initiatives have been taken to promote financial inclusion and improve customer convenience.

Account claim will be settled in 15 days

The Reserve Bank of India has decided to make the process related to the claims of deceased account holders uniform and simple. In this, access to the money deposited in bank accounts, items kept in safe deposit lockers and other custodial systems will be made easy. The RBI Governor said, our aim is to make claim settlement simple and convenient for the families. Often the settlement of the accounts of the deceased is a complex and time-consuming process, in which the nominee or heir has to visit the bank several times. The new rules will bring transparency in this process and a deadline will be fixed. Under the new rule, the claim will be settled within 15 days in accounts with a nominee and 30 days in accounts without a nominee.

Retail direct platforms will be better

Apart from this, RBI has also announced to further improve its retail direct platform. Through this, common people can invest in government securities. New features will be added to this platform, so that retail investors can easily do investment planning. Malhotra said, we will make the retail direct platform more useful, so that common investors can easily invest in government bonds. This will give small investors an opportunity for safe investment.

Camps will be set up for re-KYC of Jan Dhan accounts

At the same time, the Reserve Bank of India has made the third big announcement regarding the accounts opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. Special steps will be taken to simplify the process of re-KYC for accounts opened under PM Dhan Dhan Yojana. 10 years have passed since the launch of this scheme. In such a situation, lakhs of accounts need re-KYC. For this, special camps will be organized at the panchayat level from July 1 to September 30. In these camps, account holders will be given information and services related to re-KYC as well as micro-insurance, pension schemes and grievance redressal.

If you have opened a bank account under the Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana, then there is an important news for you. The Reserve Bank (RBI) has made it clear that now a large number of Jan Dhan accounts need to update KYC (Know Your Customer) again.

RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra said on Wednesday that on the occasion of completion of 10 years of Jan Dhan Scheme, accounts are being reviewed across the country and under this, KYC camps are being organized at the panchayat level from July 1 to September 30, 2025.

Why is re-KYC necessary?

Re-KYC means that you will have to update the personal and address related documents given earlier in your bank account (Jan Dhan account update). Its purpose is that the bank keeps correct and new data about you so that your account remains active and there is no problem in future.

Facility is being provided at Panchayat level

The RBI governor said that camps are being set up at the panchayat level so that Jan Dhan account holders living in rural areas do not need to go to the bank. Banks are now trying to provide doorstep service. In these camps, not only KYC but also facilities like opening new accounts, customer complaint resolution, micro insurance and pension scheme are being provided.

What is Jan Dhan Yojana and what are its benefits?

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is a government program aimed at connecting every citizen to banking. Under this, any person who does not already have a bank account can open a basic savings account without any minimum balance.

These benefits are available under this scheme:

RuPay debit card is given with the account.

Accidental insurance cover of up to Rs 2 lakh is available.

It becomes easier to transfer money into the account and avail pension and subsidy.

An account can be opened without visiting the bank branch through Bank Mitra or Business Correspondent.

More than 55.90 crore people joined this scheme

So far, more than 55.90 crore accounts have been opened under this scheme, which shows that it is one of the biggest financial inclusion programs in India. The PMO itself has said that the Jan Dhan Yojana has eliminated the gap between the poor and the banks and now even those people are a part of the banking system who were previously deprived of it.

More than 53 crore people got loan under Mudra Yojana

Along with the Jan Dhan Yojana, the government has also launched the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), under which 53.85 crore loans worth more than Rs 35 lakh crore have been distributed so far. These loans help in small business, self-employment and increasing income. Under this scheme, a loan of up to Rs 20 lakh is available without any guarantee.

It is easy to claim bank lockers and property of deceased account holders

RBI has also announced that a simple and easy procedure is being introduced for the assets deposited in the lockers or banks of account holders who have passed away, so that their family members do not face any problem in claiming the same.

What should Jan Dhan account holders do?

If you have a Jan Dhan account then:

Before 30 September 2025, go to the nearest camp and get your KYC done again.

If there is no camp in your village or panchayat then contact your bank.

Keep your ID and address proof like Aadhar card or Voter ID with you.

Crores of people associated with Jan Dhan Yojana have got a place in the world of banking. But now to maintain and improve this facility, it is necessary that KYC is updated on time. This will keep your account active, you will be able to take advantage of government schemes and your RuPay card will also keep working.

Jan Dhan Accounts : Have you opened a Jan Dhan account and it has completed 10 years ? So now the time has come to get Re-KYC done. If you do not do this, your account may get frozen, that is, everything like withdrawing money, sending money or getting subsidy may stop.

If you want your bank account to remain active and you keep getting the benefits of government schemes without any interruption. So it is very important for you to get Re-KYC done before 30 September 2025.

To make this work easier, the government has set up camps in every Gram Panchayat, so that you do not have to stand in the bank queue. Just reach the camp with your Aadhaar and address proof and complete your KYC . This is an opportunity, it is important to do this to keep your account safe and active.

Re-KYC means updating the information of Know Your Customer again. In this, you have to give your new address, mobile number or any important information to the bank, which may be different from the records given earlier. This process is necessary so that the bank can ensure that the account is in the name of the right person and it is not being misused .

The camps are running from 1 July to 30 September 2025

The RBI governor said that with the completion of 10 years of Jan Dhan Yojana, re-KYC of lakhs of accounts has become mandatory. Keeping this in mind, all government banks are organizing camps at every panchayat level in the country from July 1 to September 30, where Jan Dhan account holders can come and get re-KYC done . The purpose of these camps is not only to get KYC done, but also to connect people with many schemes through it.

You will also get benefit of these schemes

The Prime Minister appealed that every account holder should get their KYC updated as soon as possible , so that their account remains active and they can take advantage of government schemes.
