LPG Rate Today: It costs the government and oil companies ₹1,600 to deliver a domestic cylinder to your home. Despite this, consumers are still paying a lower price.

LPG Price Today on June 9: The financial burden of supplying domestic cooking gas has risen sharply in recent days. The delivery cost of a standard 14.2-kg LPG cylinder now exceeds ₹1,600.

Despite a significant increase in international fuel prices, consumers are still paying significantly lower prices. This is resulting in an under-recovery of approximately ₹700 per cylinder, which is being borne by the government and public sector oil marketing companies.

This gap between market-related costs and retail prices has widened amid continued volatility in the global energy market, due to supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for energy shipments from the Middle East.

How much did the international market increase?

According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, international LPG prices have increased sharply in the last few months, increasing India’s import bill significantly.

The Saudi Aramco contract price (CP) for a 50:50 propane-butane blend was US$542.50 per tonne in February. Due to export disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz, this benchmark rose to US$775 per tonne in April and further rose to US$790 per tonne in June. The ministry said that during this period, prices of both main components of LPG saw significant increases.

Lowest LPG price in India

The ministry said that losses on domestic LPG sales increased sharply last year due to the continued rise in global prices. The total under-recovery (the difference between cost and selling price) on domestic LPG reached ₹60,000 crore by the end of fiscal year 2025-26, compared to ₹41,338 crore in the previous fiscal year. The Union Cabinet has approved compensation of ₹30,000 crore to help oil marketing companies.

Despite a recent ₹29 increase in cylinder prices, domestic LPG prices remain significantly lower than the actual procurement and supply costs. Effective Sunday, the price of a 14.2-kilogram domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has been revised to ₹942. The ministry stated that this price is significantly lower than the market-related cost.

The post LPG Price Today: India alone has the lowest gas cylinder price in the world, quickly check today’s rate first appeared on Rightsofemployees.com.
