Maha Kumbh Mela 2025: In view of the bathing festival of Maghi Purnima in the ongoing Maha Kumbh in the religious city of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, the administration has implemented special traffic arrangements.

Under this, the entire fair area has been declared a ‘no vehicle zone’ from 4 am on February 11, 2025. According to officials, private and public vehicles of devotees coming to Prayagraj will be parked in the parking of the respective route after four o’clock in the morning on February 11. So that there is no traffic chaos in the city and devotees can easily reach the bathing ghats on foot.

He said that to facilitate the movement of devotees, the administration has also declared the entire Prayagraj city as a ‘no vehicle zone’ from 5 pm on February 11. Only emergency services will be exempted from this restriction. According to officials, this special traffic plan will remain in force till the completion of the bath on February 12 to ensure the safe evacuation of devotees in the fair area. This rule will also be applicable to the vehicles of devotees doing Kalpavas in the fair.

Emergency plan implemented at railway stations

Due to the huge crowd coming to Maha Kumbh, an emergency plan has been implemented at all the railway stations of Prayagraj from February 11. Single track has been made mandatory at Prayagraj Junction, Subedarganj, Chhivki, Naini, Rambagh, Jhunsi, Prayag and Phaphamau from 8 am. According to the report of Dainik Jagran, in view of the huge crowd at these railway stations, passengers are being given entry from one side. While exit will have to be done from the other side.

Apart from this, there will be diversion on all routes. Before reaching Prayagraj Railway Station, passengers will have to reach the passenger shelter home by taking a detour. Only after this they will be sent to the platform. Information about direction wise trains in the fair area will also be given through the allowance as to which station the passengers should go to.

More than 100 special trains organized

Railway CPRO Shashikant Tripathi said that there has been a huge crowd at the stations for several days. More than 100 Mela Special trains are being operated on demand every day. He said that till 9 pm on Tuesday, 108 special trains were operated. In this, North Central Railway operated 81, Northern Railway operated 10 and Northeast Railway operated 17 special trains. Apart from this, special trains are also being run continuously.

On Tuesday, North Central Railway General Manager Upendra Chandra Joshi and DRM Himanshu Badoni reviewed the preparations. He instructed the officials that on whichever route the crowd gathers, a special train should be immediately dispatched from the platform for that route. Every moment’s update was released from the control tower. He said that the crowd should not gather near the railway station, and whatever passengers reach the shelter, arrangements should be made to take them to their destination quickly.

According to the data released by the Mela administration, more than 1.30 crore people took bath in Sangam and Ganga till 10 am on Wednesday. So far more than 47.45 crore people have taken bath here. All Kalpvasis have been requested to follow traffic rules and use only valid parking.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been monitoring the Maha Kumbh Mela area from a ‘war room’ set up at his official residence in Lucknow since 4 am on Wednesday. UP DGP Prashant Kumar, Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad and other senior officials are also present with CM Yogi.
