Why the new rule was introduced

Colour coding and change in parent’s name

The government has also introduced a colour-coding scheme for passports. Under the revised rules, government officials will continue to get white passports, diplomats will get red passports and ordinary citizens will get blue passports. Along with this, the name of the parents will not be written on the last page of the passport.

Mobile van gets green signal

This mobile van has been flagged off by IFS officer Anuj Swaroop. This van will work in Ghaziabad and surrounding areas. Its main objective is to help people in the passport application process at home. Officials said that this initiative is being started by the Regional Passport Office of Ghaziabad.

In which districts will the service be available?

Ghaziabad Regional Passport Office has decided to run this mobile van in 13 districts of western Uttar Pradesh. These districts include:
– Ghaziabad
– Aligarh
– Agra
– Baghpat
– Bulandshahr
– Gautam Buddha Nagar
– Hathras
– Mathura –
Meerut
– Muzaffarnagar
– Hapur
– Shamli
– Saharanpur
In the first phase, this service will be tested in Ghaziabad. If it is successful, it will be expanded to other districts as well.

Officials say that the mobile van will be given priority in the district where maximum applications come. If the demand for passports is low in a district, the vans will be sent to other districts.
