										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3><strong>India&#8217;s largest social media platform WhatsApp has banned more than 8.4 million accounts in a month. This action has been taken by WhatsApp&#8217;s parent company Meta against fraudulent activities.</strong></h3>
<p>WhatsApp has banned these accounts due to reports of scams and suspicious activities. Meta&#8217;s transparency report states that this step was taken to maintain the security of the platform.</p>
<p>WhatsApp is prioritizing the safety of its users. By preventing illegal activities and responding to user complaints, WhatsApp is creating a safer online environment. As the platform grows, its strategies to combat fraud and other dangerous activities will improve the future of digital communications in India and around the world.</p>
<p>Meta has taken this action following Section 4(1)(d) and Section 3A(7) of the Information Technology Act. In August 2024, 10,707 user complaints were received, of which 93% were acted upon.</p>
