New Delhi. In view of the heavy rush of passengers, Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) is going to start a shuttle service between Andheri and Ghatkopar. A trial was conducted for this on March 6, which was successful. With the start of the new shuttle, the frequency of metro trains on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar corridor will increase and passengers will not have to wait long for the train during peak hours. This is one of the busiest lines of Mumbai Metro, due to which passengers have to wait for trains during peak hours.

Out of the 60,000 passengers who use Metro One during peak hours, only 7,500 travel to Azad Nagar, DN Nagar and Versova. While 87.5% i.e. 52,500 passengers travel between Andheri and Ghatkopar. Officials hope that this shuttle service will carry an additional 5,000 passengers during peak hours. Apart from this, this service will also increase the train frequency on the Andheri-Ghatkopar route. This will reduce the headway of the train from 220 seconds to 205 seconds. This will increase the total passenger capacity of the metro by more than 8%.

Metro makes 430 trips

Currently Metro One operates around 430 trips on weekdays. Trains run from Versova from 5:30 am to 11:25 pm and from Ghatkopar till 11:50 pm. Launched in June 2014, Mumbai Metro One provides an important alternative to the busy Andheri-Kurla Road, where many corporate offices and hotels are located.

In such a situation, keeping in mind the convenience of the devotees of the mother involved in the events, Mumbai Metro has announced to extend the services of metro trains between October 7 and October 11. During this time, 12 extra services will be run every day with an interval of 15 minutes. Through this facility, people participating in the midnight celebrations will get convenient and economical means to return. This decision has come after the instructions of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

12 extra services announced every day

According to a release issued by Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL), between October 7 and October 11, the existing 282 daily service trains will be operated.

Along with this, 12 additional services will be run every day for Navratri, which means a total of 294 trains will be run daily. These additional trains will be planned from Andheri West to Gundavali and Gundavali to Andheri West after 11 pm.

Metro will run every 15 minutes

Mumbai Metro said, “For the convenience of late night commuters participating in the Navratri celebrations, additional metro services will be provided between October 7 and October 11, 2024. During these dates, 12 additional trips will be operated daily at an interval of 15 minutes. To ensure that citizens participating in the midnight celebrations can travel conveniently and economically.”

Fintech company Paytm has provided the facility to metro users of various cities to recharge metro card online. This facility can be availed by metro card users of various cities including Delhi Metro, Mumbai Metro, Hyderabad Metro and Bengaluru Metro.

CM Eknath Shinde said that this is a gift to Mumbaikars from Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL). According to the CM, ‘we have taken this decision with a social spirit.’

These documents will have to be shown in the ticket window

In order to take advantage of the facility of discount tickets in the metro, the disabled will have to show their medical certificate or government certificate in the ticket window. At the same time, senior citizens will have to show their age proof. Students will have to show their parents’ PAN card and their school ID card in the ticket window. You can avail this facility at the ticket window of 2A and 7 lines. Apart from this, the benefit of this discount will be available for 45 to 60 trips in new and already purchased Mumbai 1 Pass.

MMMOCL maintains Metro Lines 2A and 7. 2A (Yellow Line) connects Dahisar East to DN Nagar in Andheri West. Whereas, Line 7 (Red Line) connects Andheri East and Dahisar East.
