On the occasion of Women’s Day 2025, SBI launched this scheme named ‘SBI Asmita’. Apart from this, the bank will provide low-interest rate financing options to women under this scheme.

The launch comes at a time when TransUnion CIBIL reported that women show less interest in taking business loans. Instead, they prefer to borrow for personal or consumption purposes. According to the report, only 3 per cent of loans taken by women were for business purposes, of which 42 per cent were for personal finance products such as personal loans, consumer durable loans, homeownership and 38 per cent were taken against gold.

SBI Chairperson CS Setty said that this new scheme will provide fast and easy financing to women-led micro, small and medium enterprise units through a digital and self-initiated process. Bank MD Vinay Tonse described the scheme as a mix of technological innovation and social engineering.

Apart from this, SBI also introduced Nari Shakti Platinum Debit Card powered by RuPay, which is a card specially designed for women. This scheme will meet the needs of women in different areas.

SBI has named this product launched especially for women entrepreneurs as ‘Aasmita’. The aim of this initiative of the bank is to provide low-interest rate finance options to women so that they do not face any financial problems in starting their business.

Women entrepreneurs will get loans easily

Chairman of the country’s largest public sector bank SBI, C.S. Shetty, said on this occasion that the new offering will provide quick and easy loans to women-led micro, small and medium units. SBI Managing Director Vinay Tonse described the new offering as a symbol of technological innovation and social equality. The largest public sector bank also introduced ‘Nari Shakti’ platinum debit card powered by RuPay, which has been specially designed for women.

Bank of Baroda also made a big announcement for women

Along with SBI, Bank of Baroda also launched ‘Bob Global Women NRE and NRO Savings Account’ for women of Indian origin on Friday. In this, women customers will be given facilities like higher interest on deposits, home loan and vehicle loan at low rates with low processing fees as well as discount on locker rent. The bank said that the revised BOB Premium NRE and NRO Savings Account comes with many facilities, including a customized debit card with increased transaction limit, complimentary domestic and international lounge access, free safe deposit locker and free personal and air accident insurance coverage.
