It is worth mentioning that the previous BJD government used to formulate a separate excise policy for each financial year. Last year, the BJP government also adopted a similar policy, but now a three-year policy has been planned to be implemented. Minister Harichandan also announced that a massive de-addiction campaign will be launched in the state. This campaign has been specially designed to create awareness by involving students, communities, youth and women. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will launch this campaign on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day on May 31. The campaign will continue till June 26, which is the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Street plays, folk art, essay and debate competitions, awareness programs etc. will be organized under the drug de-addiction campaign. It will be organized by the Excise Department in collaboration with Mission Shakti, Culture Department, School and Mass Education Department, Higher Education Department and other supporting departments. It is hoped that through this dual effort of the government (new policy formulation and drug de-addiction campaign), the problem of alcohol and drugs can be effectively controlled in the state.

At present, only premium liquor shops can be opened in malls in Noida. But after the new policy, both premium and low-alcoholic shops can be opened in the same mall.

The FL-4D license has currently been implemented as a pilot project in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Ghaziabad, Agra and Lucknow. Based on its results, it can be started in other districts as well. This policy has been specially designed for small entrepreneurs and new business people so that they can enter the liquor retail business at a low cost. The annual fee for FL-4D license is ₹ 6 lakh. To open a wine and liquor shop, the size of the shop should be at least 500 square feet. Sale and consumption of beer and wine will not be allowed inside the cinema hall.

New license for restaurants

The Excise Department has also introduced FL-7(1) license for restaurants. Its annual fee is Rs 4 lakh. Under this, restaurants will be allowed to serve beer and wine. A restaurant in Sector 43 has also applied for a wine shop in this category. Soon the department will hold a meeting with the Noida unit of the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) and other hoteliers regarding this new policy so that people can be given complete information about it.

Offices with more than 5 thousand employees and more than 1 lakh square feet of covered area can take license for the whole year by paying it.
