Actually, the government has amended the National Highway Fee Rules 2008, which also includes electronic toll collection. This decision is a big step towards the satellite toll collection system, which will make the toll collection process easier and more convenient.

Fastag will not be discontinued at present, but there is a plan to fully implement the satellite based system over time.
