iPhone 17 Pro Price India: According to reports, Apple is preparing to launch four iPhone 17 models this year: the standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

While the base model may only have minor design changes, the Pro and Pro Max models are expected to have larger camera modules. The iPhone 17 Air is said to be the thinnest iPhone ever. Apart from the new iPhone, Apple is also expected to introduce the Apple Watch Series 11, the third-generation Apple Watch SE, and the Apple Watch Ultra 3.

iPhone 17 Pro price:

The upcoming iPhone 17 Pro is likely to cost $50 more than the iPhone 16 Pro, but it will have at least 256GB of storage, double that of last year’s base model. The information was posted on Weibo by Chinese tipster Instant Digital. The account has 1.5 million followers and has made the claim three times in the past few weeks.

According to reports, a new 256GB base version could launch for $1,049 (roughly Rs. 91,735), replacing the $999 128GB model. Rather than seeing this as just a $50 increase, it could be seen as giving customers more value – getting double the storage for a small additional cost.

In the US, the standard iPhone 17, the rumored iPhone 17 Air (which could replace the Plus model), and the iPhone 17 Pro Max are all expected to see similar price changes.

iPhone 17 Pro Features:

The iPhone 17 Pro lineup is expected to see a significant design change, with the camera layout replaced by a full-width horizontal camera bar.

Apple will use aluminum instead of titanium in these models, while retaining last year’s dimensions – 6.3 inches for the iPhone 17 Pro and 6.9 inches for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Both phones will run on the new A19 Pro processor, which will deliver top-tier performance without any downgrades.

Camera upgrades are also coming, with a 24MP front-facing camera and a 48MP telephoto lens joining the existing 48MP main and ultra-wide sensors. The iPhone 17 Pro Max will have a larger battery for longer battery life, while both models will have more scratch-resistant, anti-glare displays. Color options will include four finishes: orange, dark blue, silver, and black.

Landslides and flash floods triggered by heavy monsoon rains in northern Pakistan have killed at least 243 people in the past 24 hours, including 157 in the flood-hit Buner district of northwest Pakistan on Friday.

Dozens of people are still missing and rescue operations are underway, Muhammad Suhail told The Associated Press. He said 78 bodies had been recovered from different parts of the district by Friday afternoon and 79 more were later pulled from the rubble of collapsed houses and flooded villages.

“The death toll could rise as we are still searching for dozens of missing people,” Suhail said. The floods destroyed homes in villages in Buner, where authorities declared a state of emergency on Friday. Ambulances have taken more than 100 bodies to hospitals, according to a government statement. Hundreds of houses have been submerged in the floods. The situation is so bad that many families are stranded on the roofs of their homes. While evacuation operations are underway, the Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rains could continue until August 21.

Officials said many of the victims died in flash floods or when their houses collapsed. Reports of deaths are coming from different parts of Pakistan. Rescue workers struggled for hours to rescue 1,300 tourists trapped in flash floods and landslides in the Siran Valley of Mansehra district on Thursday, said Bilal Faizi, a spokesman for the emergency services in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Gilgit-Baltistan region has been hit by floods several times since July, causing landslides on the Karakoram Highway. The Karakoram Highway is a major trade and travel route connecting Pakistan and China, used by tourists. The region is home to beautiful glaciers that provide 75% of Pakistan’s water supply.

Amit Shah On Operation Sindoor: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday openly praised the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’ and said that this operation has completely exposed Pakistan before the world. Shah claimed that Pakistani army officers attend the funerals of terrorists and this is proof that the neighboring country sponsors terrorism.

Home Minister Amit Shah was speaking at the Border Security Force (BSF) raising ceremony and Rustomji Memorial Lecture. He said, “Operation Sindoor is the result of strong political will of our Prime Minister, accurate information from intelligence agencies and lethal action by our army. When all these three come together, such operations are possible.”

Home Minister Amit Shah said, ‘We had to save the lives of our Indians… Police, Army did a very good job.’ The Army was targeted in Uri… For the first time we did a surgical strike and attacked terrorist hideouts. We hoped that this would send a strong message to Pakistan but we were targeted again. We did the Balakot strike. But Pakistan crossed all limits in Pahalgam. The whole world is praising our armed forces for carrying out precise strikes on terrorist camps. When Pahalgam was targeted, we launched Operation Sindoor on May 9 and targeted 9 terrorist camps and destroyed their camps.

Terrorists crossed all boundaries in Pahalgam

Shah said, ‘Our country has been facing Pakistan-sponsored terrorism for decades.’ Pakistan has carried out several major terrorist attacks in India in the past years but it has never received a response as strong as it has now. Recalling the terrorist incident in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, he said, “In Pahalgam, Pakistan-backed terrorists killed innocent people after asking them about their religion, that too in front of their families.”

We did not target military installations or airbases first.

Shah said, ‘Under Operation Sindoor, 9 terrorist hideouts were destroyed in a matter of minutes, 2 of which were headquarters.’ But it is important to understand that we did not target any military base or airbase in Pakistan. We only destroyed those terrorist hideouts that were responsible for crimes on Indian soil.

Operation Sindoor: A symbol of confidence and decisive leadership

Shah stressed that Operation Sindoor was not just a military operation but a symbol of new confidence and decisive leadership in India’s policy. Pakistan has been using terrorism as a strategy for a long time but that policy will not work now. Operation Sindoor has made it clear that India is no longer a country that just suffers, but responds.

Indus Water Treaty: India on Wednesday cancelled the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack. The move was one of the five major decisions taken during a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Let us know all the facts about the Indus Water Treaty that you need to know.

What is the Indus Water Treaty?

The Indus Water Treaty (IWT), signed between India and Pakistan on September 19, 1960, is considered a prime example of cross-border water sharing. It was brokered by the World Bank after nine years of negotiations and signed by India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Pakistan’s president Ayub Khan to manage shared rivers.

How does the Indus Water Treaty work?

As per the agreement, India has control over the eastern rivers- Ravi, Beas and Sutlej, while Pakistan gets water from the western rivers- Indus, Jhelum and Chenab. Though this may seem balanced, Pakistan benefits more from this treaty as it gets about 80% of the total water flow. These rivers are important for agriculture in Pakistan, especially in Punjab and Sindh provinces.

The treaty laid down a framework for fair and cooperative management of the Indus river system, which is essential for agriculture, drinking water, and industry in both India and Pakistan. It outlined clear guidelines for equitable sharing of the river and its tributaries to ensure that both countries could meet their water needs. The treaty gave India control over the eastern rivers—Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej—while Pakistan was given the western rivers—Indus, Jhelum, and Chenab. However, both countries are allowed limited use of rivers assigned to each other for specific purposes such as irrigation and power generation.

Why was the treaty needed?

When British India was partitioned in 1947, the Indus river system – which begins in Tibet and flows through both India and Pakistan, also touching parts of Afghanistan and China – became a source of tension. In 1948, India temporarily blocked the flow of water to Pakistan, leading Pakistan to raise the issue before the United Nations. The UN recommended the involvement of a neutral third party, prompting the World Bank to intervene.

After years of negotiations, the Indus Waters Treaty was finally signed in 1960 by Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and Pakistani President Ayub Khan to peacefully manage and share the vital river system.

What impact will the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty have on Pakistan?
The suspension of the treaty would have significant impact on Pakistan, as the agreement governs the use and allocation of water from the Indus river system and its tributaries, which is essential for Pakistan’s water needs and agricultural sector.

The Indus river network, which includes the Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas and Sutlej rivers, serves as Pakistan’s major water resource, supporting a population of hundreds of millions. Pakistan is heavily dependent on this water supply for irrigation, agriculture and drinking water.

The agricultural sector contributes 23% to Pakistan’s national income and supports 68% of its rural residents. The Indus basin supplies 154.3 million acre-feet of water annually, which is vital for irrigating vast agricultural areas and ensuring food security.

Any disruption in water flow would significantly impact Pakistan’s agriculture sector, which is a vital component of its economy and rural livelihoods. Decreased water availability is likely to result in reduced crop yields, food shortages, and economic instability in agriculture-dependent rural areas.

Pakistan is already facing serious water management issues such as groundwater depletion, salinization of agricultural land, and limited water storage capacity. The country’s water storage capacity is low, with the combined storage of major dams like Mangla and Tarbela being only 14.4 MAF, which is merely 10% of Pakistan’s annual water share under the treaty.

These vulnerabilities will be further exacerbated by the reduction in guaranteed water supplies caused by this suspension, leaving Pakistan with fewer options to manage its water needs.

Pakistan is furious after India’s retaliation after the Pahalgam attack. Pakistan has called India’s decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty an act of war. India suspended the Indus Water Treaty of 1960 after 28 people died in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday.

A furious Pakistan has made several announcements against India. Pakistan on Thursday announced the suspension of the historic Shimla Agreement of 1972. This was an important treaty between the two countries after the 1971 India-Pakistan War. Let us know what will be the impact of this decision of Pakistan.

What is the Shimla Agreement?

The Shimla Agreement was signed on 2 July 1972 in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. This agreement was signed by the then Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi and the then President of Pakistan Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. This agreement was signed after the 1971 war, in which Pakistan suffered a crushing defeat and East Pakistan became independent and became Bangladesh. This agreement was an important diplomatic milestone between the two countries, which set the direction of relations after the war and outlined the key principles for future negotiations.

Under the Shimla Agreement, the two countries agreed that they would resolve disputes through bilateral talks without third-party mediation. More than 13,000 sq km of land that India had occupied during the 1971 war was returned to it. By doing so India demonstrated goodwill and commitment to peace. It, however, retained strategic areas like Turtuk and Chaluka in the Chorbat Valley.

LOC was formed by Shimla Agreement

An important aspect of this agreement was that it transformed the 1971 ceasefire line into the Line of Control (LOC), establishing the de facto border in Jammu and Kashmir. The agreement emphasized that no party would try to unilaterally change this line, thereby reinforcing the status quo. Pakistan’s decision to suspend this now would encourage unilateral attempts to alter territorial control.

Pakistan will make Kashmir an international issue

The suspension of the Simla Agreement could lead Pakistan to re-classify the LoC as a ceasefire line, thereby easing legal constraints on military action. This marks a strategic shift in Pakistan’s approach. Pakistan could now seek the involvement of third parties, such as the United Nations, China or Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) allies, to internationalise the Kashmir conflict. This would be a direct violation of the Simla framework.

According to former Indian ambassador to Pakistan G Parthasarathy, the suspension of the Simla Agreement means that Pakistan will now do everything possible to internationalise the Kashmir issue. Live Mint quoted Parthasarathy as saying that there is a clause in the Simla Agreement under which India and Pakistan agreed to settle all disputes through bilateral talks. “The key question is what will replace the Simla Agreement if it ends. If Pakistan attempts to take Kashmir to the United Nations, as it may do, it will be important to remember that the Simla Agreement supersedes the UN resolution on Kashmir,” Parthasarathy said.

Funeral of a dead man

It may be said that after withdrawing from the Shimla Agreement, Pakistan will try to internationalize the Kashmir issue, but the reality is that Pakistan has been doing the same even while being in the agreement. Pakistan keeps on singing the Kashmir song on forums like OIC and United Nations. Sushant Sareen, an analyst who keeps an eye on matters related to Pakistan, does not consider this decision of Islamabad important for India. Sareen told BBC, Pakistan has abandoned the Shimla Agreement long ago. The Kargil war and the firing across the border every day are proof that it has not told about this agreement. Sareen described Pakistan’s announcement of suspension of the Shimla Agreement as ‘the last rites of a dead agreement’. He said that this will only help India in taking big decisions on Kashmir.

If after the suspension of the Shimla Agreement, Pakistan no longer recognizes the Line of Control (LOC) and if the Indian Army moves westward to reach the definition of the border, then Islamabad will be within the reach of Indian artillery, especially rocket systems like Pinaka.

Pakistan is in a mood to take strict action against those who do not file ITR. The Pakistan government has introduced a bill in Parliament. It proposes to ban people who do not file tax returns from opening bank accounts and buying cars above 800cc.

Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb introduced the Tax Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 in Parliament on Wednesday. It is being described as one of the actions being taken by the government against tax evaders.

Bank accounts will be frozen

The amendment proposes that those who do not file ITR will be banned from buying shares above a certain limit and opening bank accounts. They will also not be able to transact more than a certain limit through the bank. The bill states that the bank accounts of non-registered business persons with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will be frozen and they will be banned from transferring property. The FBR can freeze bank accounts and stop property transfers if they do not register with the apex collection body to file sales tax returns. However, their accounts will be unfrozen two days after registration.

There is a struggle to get a loan from the IMF

The bill states that the restrictions will come into effect after the approval of the federal government. The bill comes at a time when the government is struggling to increase revenue collection in accordance with the agreement reached with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in September this year to obtain a loan package of USD 7 billion. Pakistan has set a target of Rs 12.913 trillion for the financial year 2024-25, which is 40 percent more than the tax collected in the previous fiscal year.
