You can see the documents in detail inside this article, we are going to discuss, so first of all, if we are making a new fresh passport, then what documents will be required in it, let us discuss about it. So here we are making a new passport under the normal category and the adult is from eighteen years. What is ahead of them is more. Now here people may not know about the CR category. HC Clarifies: Aadhaar, PAN & Voter ID Alone Don’t Prove Indian Citizenship

The bench said that Aadhar card, PAN card and voter ID are only for identification of citizens or to provide them services. Along with this, the court refused to grant bail to Babu Abdul Rauf Sardar. Babu Abdul is accused of entering India without any valid passport or visa.

If a person has documents like Aadhar card, PAN card or voter ID, it does not mean that he will become a citizen of India. Bombay High Court said this while refusing to grant bail to a person accused of illegal infiltration from Bangladesh. The person is accused of living in India for about a year by making fake documents. Justice Amit Borkar’s bench said that the Citizenship Act clarifies who can be a citizen of India and who cannot. This Act explains how citizenship can be acquired.

The bench said that Aadhaar card, PAN card and voter ID are only for identification of citizens or for providing services to them. With this, the court refused to grant bail to Babu Abdul Rauf Sardar. Babu Abdul is accused of entering India without a valid passport or visa. Indian passport holders can now travel to 59 countries without a visa or visa-on-arrival, which was previously limited to 57 countries. This achievement reflects India’s increasing global mobility and diplomatic ties.

Singapore tops the Henley Passport Index. Singapore’s passport tops the list with visa-free travel to 193 countries. It is followed by Japan, South Korea whose passports allow entry to 190 countries. Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Spain (189 countries) are at the third position. On the other hand, Afghanistan’s passport is the weakest with 26 countries. India has climbed to the 77th position in the Passport Index and has visa-free access to 59 places.

The central government has amended the passport rules. This week, an official note has been issued to effect the amendment in the Passport Rules 1980.

The new passport rules will come into force after the amendments are published in the official gazette. Under the new norms, birth certificate issued by the Registrar of Births and Deaths, Municipal Corporation or any other authority empowered under the Births and Deaths Registration Act, 1969 will be accepted as proof of date of birth for persons born on or after 1 October 2023. Other applicants can submit alternative documents, such as driving license or school leaving certificate, as proof of date of birth.

In fact, the Government of India had launched the pilot project of e-passport on 1 April 2024 under the Passport Seva Program (PSP) version 2.0. It was initiated by the Ministry of External Affairs. Let us tell you about this e-passport in detail and also know how to make it?

What is an e-passport?

Although the e-passport looks like a traditional paper document in shape, it contains an electronic chip that contains the passport holder’s personal and biometric data. Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr and the last Friday prayers of Ramzan, the Meerut police has issued a strict warning against people offering namaz on the streets, saying strict legal action will be taken against violators.

Passports and driving licenses can be cancelled for breaking the rules. Meerut Superintendent of Police (city) Ayush Vikram Singh said that Eid namaz should be offered in local mosques or designated Eidgahs and no one should offer namaz on the streets.

What did Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary say

Union minister and Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Jayant Singh Chaudhary said, “If individuals have criminal cases registered against them, their passports and licenses can be cancelled and it will be difficult to get a new passport without an NOC from the court. Such documents will remain seized until the person is acquitted by the court.” Meerut Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vipin Tada said that meetings have been held at both the district and police station levels and necessary instructions have been issued based on discussions with all parties.

A close watch on social media too

The SSP said, “Strict action will be taken against those who try to spread rumours or incite unrest through social media. We are keeping a close watch on social media platforms and any attempt to disturb communal harmony will be dealt with strictly.” SSP Tada said that PAC and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel have been deployed to strengthen security and flag marches are being conducted in the district.

Deployment of drones in sensitive areas

Based on past experiences, sensitive areas have been identified and special arrangements have been made there. SSP Tada also stressed that the administration is working to coordinate with prominent citizens and religious leaders to maintain peace and smoothly celebrate the upcoming festivals. Jayant Singh Choudhary said that drones will be deployed for surveillance to ensure law and order.

Meerut police issued a warning

Local intelligence teams are actively monitoring the situation. He said uniformed and plainclothes police officers will also be deployed at all sensitive locations. Meerut police have warned that individuals violating the order may have their passports and driving licences cancelled, and a no objection certificate (NOC) from the court will be required to obtain a new passport.

The government has made changes in the document related to date of birth. Those who were born after October 1, 2023. Only the birth certificate will be accepted as a date of birth certificate for their passport. However, for those born before this, other documents will be accepted as before. This includes PAN card, driving license, etc.

Additionally, for security and privacy, the home address will be recorded in the passport as a bar code. When scanned by the authorities, they will get all the information.

No other document will be required to verify date of birth.

People born after October 1, 2023 will now have to show a birth certificate to verify their date of birth, but people born before October 1, 2023 can still use alternative documents like a driving license, school leaving certificate, PAN card, Aadhaar card to verify their date of birth.

Color coding and change in parent names

Color codes have also been introduced for identification of passports. Under this, there will be a white passport for government officials, a red passport for diplomats and a blue passport for ordinary citizens. This is being done to ensure quick identification of different categories.

This will no longer require the parents’ names to be given on the passport. This will be effective in situations where there is a single parent. This will avoid unnecessary disclosure in these situations.

Along with this, to speed up passport services, the government is planning to increase the number of post office passport service centers from 442 to 600. This increase can be done in the next 5 years.

Indian Embassy rejects claims of 15-20 times hike in passport and visa fees

Manama: The Indian Embassy in Bahrain has rejected recent claims of a steep hike in passport and visa fees. The embassy termed these claims as ‘speculation’. These claims had raised concerns among the Indian diaspora and opposition leaders had questioned the government.

Pravasi Legal Cell, an NGO advocating migrant rights, had said on X that the revised government Request for Proposal (RFP) could lead to a 15 to 20 times increase in consular, passport and visa (CPV) service fees. The proposed bundled package will include additional services such as document digitisation, biometric capture, photocopying and photography, form filling and courier services.

According to the Migrant Legal Cell, this could increase the cost from the current five-seven dollars to $90-100 (about Rs 7-8 more), even if applicants do not require all the services.

Congress leader KC Venugopal had sought clarification

Following the news, Congress general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal claimed that the fees would increase by 10 to 15 times and sought clarification from the government, reports Business Standard . The NGO urged the authorities to reconsider and argued that many Indian migrant workers earn modest salaries and would find it difficult to afford the higher fees.

The NGO Migrant Legal Cell appealed to the government not to implement the proposal. “Many migrants earn modest salaries and will face difficulty in affording the revised fees, which have increased up to five times in some countries,” the memorandum said.

Indian Embassy in Bahrain denies fee hike

According to the report, the Indian Embassy in Bahrain issued a statement rejecting the claims. The statement said, “There has been no increase in fees for various consular services provided in Bahrain, as claimed. The Embassy advises all concerned parties to refrain from unverified and speculative reports, which may cause inconvenience to the Indian community and impact service delivery.” The Ministry of External Affairs also rejected these reports, saying that these are speculations and are not based on any official decision.

What is RFP?

A Request for Proposal (RFP) is a formal document issued by the Government of India or its embassies and consulates abroad inviting bids from service providers for managing consular services. These services include visa processing, passport issuance, and applications for the Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) scheme. New Passport Service : Getting a new passport or renewal is now easy, you will not have to wait for 90 days

The situation became such that out of the 11 POPSKs of the Regional Passport Office Ghaziabad, Agra emerged as the center with the highest number of applications. Keeping this in mind, now the number of slots available daily in Agra has been increased.

Convenience to 120 applicants At present, 120 passport applicants are getting facility in a day in Agra. While 80 passport applicants are getting benefit at the Agra centre, 40 applicants are getting benefit from the Achhnera centre. At Achhnera, the applicants are getting appointment for February 11. Applicants who have taken appointment earlier can book these slots by re-scheduling the appointment.

Certificates are verified

After applying online for a new passport or renewal, the applicant is called to the office for certificate verification. After certificate verification, they are scanned and uploaded on the portal. After this, the process of police verification begins. After the police report is received, the passport is printed from Ghaziabad and sent to the applicant’s home through post. Let us know how a common man can apply for a passport with facilities and what documents are required for this.

Complete process of applying for passport

One can apply for passport both offline and online. However, these days online application is more popular. For offline application, one has to go to the regional passport office, fill the manual application form, get it checked and submit it at the counter along with the required documents and prescribed fee. After this, one has to wait for the next process with the receipt (acknowledgement) received there.

All the information about the steps to be followed while applying for a passport online is given on the Passport India website of the Government of India. According to this, these steps should be followed one by one.

For this, online payment has been made mandatory for booking appointments at all PSKs/POPSKs/POs. Online payment can be made using any of the following modes:

6. Click on the “Print Application Receipt” link to print the application receipt containing the Application Reference Number (ARN)/Appointment Number. Note here that carrying a printout of the application receipt is no longer necessary. An SMS containing your appointment details during your visit to the passport office is also accepted as proof of appointment.

7. As per the appointment booking, visit the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)/Regional Passport Office (RPO) with all original documents.
