US President Donald Trump has created a stir all over the world by starting a tariff war. He had also announced to impose 27 percent tariff on India but within 24 hours he also reduced it. According to the document released by the White House, the Trump administration has reduced the tariff imposed on India. The documents show that only India has been given this relief from the tariff imposed by the US on 60 countries of the world.

According to White House documents, the US has reduced the 27 percent tariff imposed on India to 26 percent. This tariff will come into effect from April 9 and will be imposed on all goods exported from India to the US. Earlier, while announcing the retaliatory duty, Donald Trump showed a chart showing that now India, China, UK and the European Union will have to pay duty on all their exports. The tariff on India has been reduced by 1 percent because the US has imposed only 50 percent of the tariff imposed by it on each country. If India collects 52 percent, it should have been imposed at the rate of 26 percent but it was imposed at 27 percent by mistake.

Tariff reform or relaxation

The chart released by the US shows that India collects 52 percent duty, which includes currency manipulation and trade barriers, and now the US will collect a concessional retaliatory duty of 26 percent from India. Earlier, the White House documents showed a 27 percent duty on India. It has been updated and reduced to 26 percent. However, looking at the documents, it seems that the US has not given this relaxation in the tariff, but has improved it. Anyway, industry experts say that a reduction of one percent will not have much impact.

US is the largest trading partner

The US was India’s largest trading partner from 2021-22 to 2023-24. The US accounts for about 18 per cent of India’s total textile exports, 6.22 per cent of imports and 10.73 per cent of bilateral trade. With the US, India’s trade surplus (difference between imports and exports) in textiles in 2023-24 was $35.32 billion. It was $27.7 billion in 2022-23, $32.85 billion in 2021-22, $22.73 billion in 2020-21 and $17.26 billion in 2019-20.

What makes the most exports

India’s major exports to the US in 2024 included pharmaceutical manufacturing and biological products ($8.1 billion), telecommunications equipment ($6.5 billion), precious and semi-precious stones ($5.3 billion), petroleum products ($4.1 billion), gold and others included precious metal jewelry ($3.2 billion), cotton ready-made garments including accessories ($2.8 billion) and iron and steel products ($2.7 billion). Similarly, imports included crude oil ($4.5 billion), petroleum products ($3.6 billion), coal, coke ($3.4 billion), cut and polished diamonds ($2.6 billion), electrical machinery ($1.4 billion), aircraft, spacecraft and their parts ($1.3 billion) and gold ($1.3 billion).

Till now, Namo Bharat was running on the 42 km long section between Sahibabad and Meerut South. From today, high-speed trains will start running on the 55 km long section of the Namo Bharat corridor. The Namo Bharat train service will be available from New Ashok Nagar station to Meerut from 5 pm today. Namo Bharat will run at an interval of every 15 minutes from both the directions. With the commencement of operations on this section, Meerut city is now directly connected to the national capital Delhi through Namo Bharat train. Passengers will be able to travel from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South in just 40 minutes. Construction work is going on at a brisk pace in the remaining sections of the corridor i.e. New Ashok Nagar-Sarai Kale Khan and Meerut South-Modipuram.

How much will the fare be?

The fare of Namo Bharat Train is more expensive than other trains. In this modern train, passengers will get modern facilities and it will travel from Delhi to Meerut in a very short time compared to other trains. Due to this, its fare is higher. The fare of the standard coach of Namo Bharat Train from New Ashok Nagar station to Meerut South is Rs 150 and the fare of the premium coach is Rs 225. The fare of the standard coach of Modinagar North is Rs 130 and Rs 195 for the premium coach. Similarly, tickets for Modinagar South will be available for Rs 120 and Rs 180. If you travel in the standard coach from New Ashok Nagar to Muradnagar, then you will have to pay Rs 100 and Rs 150 for traveling in the premium coach.

The fare for a standard coach from New Ashok Nagar station to Duhai depot is Rs 90 and the fare for a premium coach is Rs 135. After this, it will have to be passed by the legislative assemblies. A constitutional amendment bill will come. Support from at least 50 percent of the states will be required. During the first term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a committee was formed under the leadership of former President Ram Nath Kovind regarding One Nation One Election. Let us tell you that after the Vande Bharat train running between Agra and Varanasi leaves Agra Cantt, it will reach Varanasi via Tundla Junction, Etawah Junction, Kanpur Central, Prayagraj Junction.

Vande Bharat Express will depart from Agra Cantt at 6 am and reach Varanasi Junction at 1 pm. On the return journey, this Vande Bharat train will depart from Varanasi to Agra at 3:20 pm and reach Prayagraj Junction at 4:50 pm and Agra Cantt Junction at 10:20 pm via Kanpur, Etawah, Tundla. Giving more information about this, a senior official of South Central Railway (SCR) says that this service is likely to start between the end of this month or the beginning of the new year. Meanwhile, a team of professionals has been hired, who will look after all the train operations.

He is receiving appropriate training for his role in Secunderabad. The official says the Vande Bharat train is likely to run at an average speed of 130 kmph, while some expresses are allowed to run at a speed of 100 kmph. However, the average speed can fluctuate depending on the track.

Vande Bharat will also run between Bengaluru-Coimbatore

Meanwhile, the much-awaited Vande Bharat Express between Bengaluru and Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu is also about to be launched. Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan confirmed that the Vande Bharat Express between the two cities will be launched by the end of December.

This will be the fourth Vande Bharat Express for Karnataka. “By the end of December, Bengaluru is all set to welcome its fourth Vande Bharat Express connecting with Coimbatore,” PC Mohan said. Currently there is only one express train between Bengaluru and Coimbatore. Udaya Express currently operates in the morning with a journey time of approximately 7 hours.
