According to the department, most parts of the northern plains including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab are likely to experience heat wave for the next four to five days.

Mumbai is also experiencing intense heat

The IMD issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and its neighbouring districts – Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg – warning of hot and humid weather to persist till April 10. Doctors have warned residents that exposure to such extreme heat can lead to mild rashes, muscle cramps due to excessive sweating and more serious problems like heatstroke.

Possibility of rain in Delhi after 48 hours

Meteorological Department scientist Dr. Naresh Kumar told news agency ANI, “We have issued a heat wave warning in Delhi-NCR for the next two days. Light rain is expected on April 11. Heat wave conditions will continue in other parts of northwest India like Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Western Uttar Pradesh till April 10, after which rain is expected.

Rain forecast in these states of the country

While people of North India are troubled by the heat of the sun, South India and the Northeast are witnessing a spell of rain. According to the Meteorological Department, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya may receive light to moderate rain with thunder till April 12. During this period, strong winds at a speed of 40-50 kmph may also blow at many places. There is a possibility of hailstorm along with light rain in many districts of Bihar today.

The weather department has also predicted rain in Bengaluru till April 12. Thunderstorms are likely in most parts of Odisha in the next three days, according to the IMD, which has issued a yellow alert for several districts in the state. Heavy rains are expected in Rayagada, Koraput, Mayurbhanj and Kalahandi.

On March 13, the sky will be cloudy, there will be light rain and the maximum temperature will be around 34 degrees and the minimum temperature will be around 18 degrees. After this, the weather conditions will remain the same on March 14 i.e. Holi day and people of NCR will have to face rain. There is a possibility of a drop in maximum temperature and minimum temperature on this day. On March 15 too, the sky will be cloudy and there is a high possibility of light rain.

Heavy rain expected in Tamil Nadu, Orange alert issued

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for southern Tamil Nadu. The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) said on Wednesday that heavy rains are expected in southern Tamil Nadu. The reason for the rain is a low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal, which is near the coast of Tamil Nadu and extends up to 1.5 km above the sea. Due to this, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts may receive heavy rains. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in these areas as well as Tenkasi district. Also, fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea due to the threat of cyclonic storm. Apart from this, cloudy weather is expected in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Chances of rain in UP too

The weather is going to change again in Uttar Pradesh. Rainfall may start in the state from today. Rainfall is expected in the state for four days. Currently, an alert has been issued for thunder and lightning in many districts including Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly on Thursday. Along with this, there is also an alert for strong winds in both parts of the state. Due to the dry weather for the past several days, the temperature is continuously increasing. The maximum temperature in Jhansi has crossed 39℃. The maximum temperature in most districts of the state remains above 30℃.

Temperature is rising rapidly in Rajasthan

In most parts of Rajasthan, the maximum temperature was recorded above normal during the last 24 hours. The Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this information on Wednesday. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature in Barmer on Tuesday was recorded at 41.2 degrees Celsius, which is 7.7 degrees above normal. Jaipur Meteorological Center in-charge Radheshyam Sharma said that in the next two days, light rain is expected in some parts of Bikaner, Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions and the temperature is expected to fall by two to three degrees Celsius.
