]]> Muharram holiday 6th July or 7th July?: July 7, 2025, has been declared a public holiday in many parts of the country. This day is Muharram, which marks the beginning of the Islamic new year.

According to the report, the Muharram holiday will be on July 6 or 7 depending on the sighting of the moon, although the holiday has been declared on July 6. But if the moon is not seen on July 6, then July 7 will be a public holiday. On this special occasion, government offices, banks and many private establishments will remain closed, so that employees can celebrate this festival with their families.

What will be closed?

On the day of Muharram i.e. 7 July 2025, many things will remain closed in the country. On this occasion, schools, colleges, government offices, post offices and many private offices will not open. Banks will also remain closed, so if you have to deposit a cheque, pay a loan installment or have any other urgent bank work, then get it done by 6 July. On the other hand, if the Muharram holiday falls on 6 July, then complete the bank work by 5 July.

Although a Muharram holiday has been reserved in Punjab and that too on Sunday, July 6, if the moon is sighted on Monday, July 7, then this holiday can be declared on July 7 after the orders of the concerned DCs, the decision is awaited.

Will it be open?

Hospitals, pharmacies and all emergency medical services will remain open on the Muharram holiday. Emergency services like police, fire brigade will also remain operational 24/7. Trains and flights will run as per their scheduled schedule, although it is advisable to book tickets online to avoid crowds. Apart from this, transport services like buses, metro, autos and taxis will also remain open in most cities, but their speed may be slightly reduced in some places.

5 days bank holiday

A public holiday has been declared on Ram Navami in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. During this time, government offices including schools and colleges will remain closed. A four-day public holiday has been declared in government offices. One holiday is falling on Sunday. In such a situation, they will be given the benefit of leave on 3 public holidays.

Declaration of public holiday

Due to public holiday being declared, all government offices, schools and colleges will remain closed during this period. Along with this, LIC branches will also get four holidays and a total of 11 holidays will be provided to the employees.

In Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao, public holidays have been declared on the days on which there will be a holiday on the occasion of Ramnavami on 6 April. Apart from this, a public holiday has also been declared on Mahavir Jayanti on 10 April. A public holiday has been declared on Ambedkar Jayanti on 14 April.

There will be a holiday on Good Friday on 18 April. LIC branches have a 5-day working week. Thus, there is holiday on Saturday and Sunday as well. Due to which, LIC employees will be provided four Saturdays and four Sundays off.

]]> Public holiday: After Diwali holidays, once again three consecutive days of holiday are going to be available. Public holidays have been declared in Maharashtra due to assembly elections this month.

On November 15, there will be a public holiday across the state on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, due to which schools, colleges and government offices will remain closed. After this, public holiday has also been declared on November 20 for the assembly elections. On this day, all government and private schools in the state will remain closed, and offices will remain closed in entire Maharashtra including Mumbai. Voting will be held on November 20 and the counting of votes will be done three days later on November 23.

The Election Commission has issued a directive that all establishments, businesses and workplaces falling within the limits of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are required to give leave to their employees for voting on November 20. Violation of the directive will lead to action against employers under the guidelines of the Election Commission. This decision has been taken with the aim of encouraging voters in Mumbai city and suburban areas to exercise their franchise and increase the voting percentage.

However, employees whose absence may pose a threat to the public or their establishment will not be penalised. An order also said that employers will have to give paid leave to their employees on November 20 and this rule will also apply to all industrial areas, corporations, companies and other establishments. In special circumstances, if it is not possible to give a full day’s leave, then it is mandatory to give at least four hours of leave, but for this permission will have to be taken from the District Election Officer.
