The Chhattisgarh Government has declared a public holiday on 18 December 2024 on the occasion of Guru Ghasidas Jayanti. This day will be celebrated with special enthusiasm and devotion across the state. Remembering the contribution of Guru Ghasidas, government offices, schools, colleges, banks and other institutions of the state will remain closed. On this occasion, a ‘Dry Day’ has also been declared, that is, the sale of liquor will be banned on this day.

Guru Ghasidas was born on 18 December 1756 AD. He was a great saint and social reformer of Chhattisgarh, who dedicated his life to establishing equality and brotherhood in the society. Guru Ghasidas raised his voice against casteism, discrimination and inequality. His message was that all human beings should be given equal status.

A dry day has been declared in Chhattisgarh on the day of Guru Ghasidas Jayanti. This means that there will be a complete ban on the sale of liquor on this day.

Public Holiday in 12 November: Holidays are being given continuously during the festive season. Earlier there was a holiday on Diwali. And now there will be a government holiday on Thursday for Chhath festival as well.

At the same time, Uttarakhand’s famous folk festival Igas, which is also called old Diwali, will be celebrated on 12 November this time and this day has also been declared a government holiday in the state.

How many holidays are there in this year 2024… know

Let us tell you that the Uttarakhand government has kept a total of 25 public and 17 registered holidays in the holiday calendar for the year 2024. This calendar includes a total of 27 to 31 holidays, which have been created keeping in mind local festivals and traditions.

Igas festival, celebrated 11 days after Diwali, is very popular in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand. It is believed that the news of Lord Shri Ram’s return to Ayodhya reached here 11 days later, so people here celebrate it on Kartik Shukla Ekadashi. There is a tradition of playing Bhailo on the day of Igas, in which people perform a special dance by lighting torches.

The celebration of Igas or Budhi Diwali is in no way less than Diwali. On this day too, diyas are lit in the houses and delicacies are prepared. Earlier there was no holiday in the state on Igas, but now since it has been declared a government holiday, people celebrate it with great pomp.
